I'd wager that folks who ride the big touring rigs care less about straight line perfomance and handling in the twisties so again the XS prolly outshines the Venture...as I get older I find I want more creature comforts so it that dept the Venture has it in spades
Handling in the twisties, Venture has it over the XS........just not straight line......but it IS close.....DAMHIK.

As a former Gen. 1 V-Max owner, I can tell you this:

You wouldn't want to attempt a ride of that distance on this bike. The longest trip I ever took on my V-Max was 200 miles, but I was ready to get off the bike after 80 mi.

But, due to the limited fuel capacity (just a pinch under 4 gallons), you would be refueling at around 90-100 mi. anyway, depending on how heavy your throttle hand is.

Ben, in your pic, the bike is sporting an aftermarket seat. The stock seat is not very comfortable for anything other than urban trolling and the occasional short jaunt out of town.

But, for cruising around town, this bike excels! That's how I put most of the miles on my V-Max. The effortless power delivery made it an absolute blast to ride!

The pic below is exactly what my V-Max looked like, color and all ... I kept it bone stock the entire time I owned it ...

It sure was pretty to look at .......

Nice Marco...I know I'd never even ride 200 miles on a Vmax...V4 motors rock...so going back to the Venture Royale I found 2 in my area forsale...one looks very good and the other looks absolutely pristine...oh i've got the bug... The new Vmax looks totally evil...
