There is one thing that remains steady in the status rating of people here. Those that have been here and participated in discussion the longest have been exposed to problems and fixes. Although a person that has GURU status may not know the answer I bet he/she knows who to get it from. This site is all about knowing who to go to for the answer. No matter what your problem is with the XS someone here has the answer and no other site I know of can really say that. The problem sometimes is there are so many answers and ways to get to the same point it can be a little confusing to some. The tech tips are solid, to the point, and will keep you on track. The only thing I see missing for the novice is a step by step flow chart of specific checks.

Maybe we could make some little token award for those who contribute so much something that has true meaning it does not have to be expensive just unique.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.

      mini battery dremel

I got this mini battery dremel I use every few years (sparingly) on my contacts..It works with a small bit that fits into the round pin connectors holes and on flat blade connectors equally well....you just want to gently touch up the connectors once in awhile you don't wanna chew up the metal......I bought mine many moons ago at a hardware store......

Pay attention to your solid "REDWIRE" locations, I found over the years that the REDWIRE is subject to overheating such as the one coming from the alternator and the one inside the headlight bucket.....if these are found to be in a bad state of repair just solder in a new lead either side of the damaged one and be sure to shrink wrap it.....Bruce Doucette 78xs1100

I stumbled on this site years ago when I first got my 11. Without the help, it might have ended up in a dusty corner in the garage or at the very least, I would have finally chased the problem down after many hours and/or mistakes. My experience with 4's was pretty limited. Had lots of ring-a-dings, twins and more than one Laverda triple. Had a 1100 Spectre for a while and "that" forum was not much help. The 11 has been the longest bike I have owned partially to the help from here and the fact they are almost bullet proof. The brief stint of the MOM (meeting of the minds) events showed the fellowship and knowledge of this elite group. When a bike can literally be brought in in boxes, many boxes, and ridden home in two day is proof of that. The M.O.M. was a event started by John and Kat who opened there home and garage more than once to a, should I say, diverse group, who had one thing in common, XS11's. I may not be dialed in on all the models, but I know my G pretty much front to rear. I have run into many XS riders that had no clue this site existed. I would tell em about it. "If they cant answer it, it hasn't happened yet" I would tell them.
        When a 10 isn't enough, get a 11. 80g Hardbagger
