FZ-09 has a very nice, open riding position from sitting on one at the local dealer. It is a small bike with a large riding position. The HP and torque that little motor (847cc) puts out is amazing (as much or more at the rear wheel on both counts than our beloved XS1100) and the bike weighs less than the current R6 sport bike.... I think it does the 1/4 mile in 125 mph or something like that.

Every test in the mags has come back positive and impressed.

I don't have a new bike budget, so I will keep buying used bikes that I always wanted as a kid and be very content!

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

Best part I think is its sound and howl which are exactly the same as on my Z1300 six!
The MT-07 is much more sophisticated, don't know if you know it in the States? Both bikes were great to ride in the twisties (all 1300 miles of them....). Wiil post some pics asap.
Sounded like great fun Mathh!. (still lookin for updated post/pics of your twin-sparred framed, mono-shocked XS11). Even some of those old pics would get the blood flowin' for some of these new youngins' here.

There is nothing like the sound of that big 1300/6 wailing through it's exhaust!!

I sold my '79 KZ1300 about 7 years ago, and have regretted it ever since.

To me, it sounds even better than my CBX ... and it had the most comfortable stock seat on any motorcycle I've ever ridden, to this day.

A 6-day ride through Andalucia ... that sounds fantastic!

You must have taken in some absolutely gorgeous scenery on that ride ... can't wait to see pics!

I just noticed they are no longer in the correct order, sorry for that. We were with five people, me and my girlfriend on the rented Yamahas, one friend on a rented brandnew watercooled GS1200 Adventure, one friend on his own fazer 1000 which he rode from home and back (3000 mls) and another friend on his Triumph Tiger. During those days we also swapped bikes. The friend on the Tiger lives there and works for a Yamaha dealership and rents motorcycles through his own business. Every year we select a region within Andalucia and he starts planning the trip and B&B/hotels. Most of us have a GPS on the bike so we all can see where we are going. When the trip has enden and we all agree the route was great he then adds it to his program of GPS tours. This was our seventh year in succession and the best ever..
            enjoy the pics !

              Thanks for sharing the pics

Hey Math, that looks like a great area to ride in. What a great arrangement, having dependable bikes and a prearranged route through an outstanding countryside... it doesn't get much better than that. 1300 miles in 6 days through Andalusia gives you time to enjoy it.

We did an average of 200 miles a day, starting afer breakfast which was at 9 and finishing between 5 and 8 in the evening. We did lots of coffee and picture stops, took lots of time for lunches and managed a 40 mph average riding speed (GPS info). Considering the amount of twisties and hairpins ..... very acceptable.
