Here in western Colorado we have been experiencing the coldest December on recored. That means for as long as records have been kept, 100+ years or more. Also set some snowfall-for-the-date records last week. In short it has been a bad couple weeks, with overnight temps hitting double-digit below F readings. I don't even like to snowmobile in that kind of cold, let alone take the bike out for an afternoon run.

On the bright side, my heated grips arrived for the ATV and I plan to get those installed this weekend.

Long-term forecast says we may get above freezing by next week Tuesday or Wednesday. Normal average daytime temp for this time of year is around 39 deg. F. That will feel downright warm compared to what we have now.

      warmer weather

Around 50 degrees in Denver today,
      Near the same tomorrow,
But to tell you how cold it was,I picked up a 700 maxim that po had left plugs out, got the head off and # 1 cylinder had a block of ice two inches deep in it.
      Will try to post pic.
Floridians gloat while you can,I lived there, on and off for 15 yrs.
When summer rolls around and you are sweating while you put on deodorant after a shower, I will be gliding through the mountains here,70 or 80 degrees
10 or 15% humidity ,cool crisp mornings nice cool evenings and there you will be sweating sweating your b lls off,

With over a week still to go before official winter gets here it certainly is the coldest December I recall for many years. Minus 9C but feels like -18C

Everyone rides their own way and takes their own risks, some days I'm covered in armor, other days I'm in shorts or pants

What you choose to wear is your personal decision. Just like what you choose to ride. Some folks take the front brakes and fender off their bikes. Its their choice.

However, amongst this group of folks who I believe genuinely care about their fellow XSives (some just have VERY unique ways of showing it), you gotta expect to catch some grief about riding in shorts, tennis shoes, or a T-shirt. I wore a nice leather coat to XSEast, however I only wore the T-shirt for the rides around the area. My choice, and I expected to hear about it several times. And I did. And so will you about riding in shorts, you bonehead!.

Fla. sucks..the only time its nice is in the winter and then where can you go to find some twisties? Its flat boring and full of blue hair cagers that wont even see you when they plow right over you...Fla has the highest motorcycle mortality rate in the country...no thanks you can keep it...BTW its cold here in NC but roads are clear and dry and the sun is shining...no snow...I love cold weather riding...

It just doesnt seem like Christmas without a little snow.

winter storm electra is bringing a lil christmas cheer here.

maybe when you finish your slip n slide, you can decorate your palm tree with some pink flamingos. haha,

That's what I thought, too, when I was a young man in the early 1980's ... then one day some cager pulled out from a side street right in front of me. Only choices: lay down the bike or slam right into the side of her car, so I laid it down ... I was wearing a full face helmet and covered in leather everywhere else EXCEPT for my legs; I was wearing thermals under a very thick pair of jeans, and still had pretty bad road rash on my legs. That incident changed my whole perspective on riding, and what to wear while riding a motorcycle.

Near 70 degrees for a high here today ... Going for a ride!!

There has been 72" of snow fall reported for Redfield NY as of yesterday. That is about 30 mins away from me. One of the national morning news shows reported from my area about the snow the other day too. So far it's been a festival if you have fur on your nuts and it's only going to get better as we are getting state wide storm tonight projection another foot, followed by more lake effect.
