There is as much and possibly more to see in our great country than there is in the states. We cover more area than any other country in the world with the exception of Russia. We have wonderful roads, not so good roads, kind of wary about it roads and completely crap roads up here. Depends on where you are going and how fast you need to get there.
Back in 1980 I worked for a few months in north dakota and montana. I was surprised by how few people knew they did not need a 4 wheel drive to come up here. It was mind blowing to say the least.
Now, thanks much to the internet, it is not such a struggle to convince people that we are civilized and have actual homes and not igloo's. We do not (for the most part) have concrete roads as asphalt makes a better lasting surface for us. Point me to a state that does not have better roads than the other. Each province has their own difficulties like population as Fred has said So all in all one must simply experience our country to appreciate it.2-79 XS1100 SF

In Canada
I just got back from 50 days out on the ocean waves, mostly in Desolation Sound BC.
There are literally hundreds of boats from the US in BC waters. To quote many " We love it here "
Some of the boat owners can be disrespectful and a pain. While many others are kind and courteous.
When I say disrespectful that is not an opinion. When visiting a foreign country, that countries' flag will be flown in the most prominent position.
Which is high on the starboard side. The country of origin flag can remain on the transom. Too many US boats do not fly the Canadian flag. Some fly it under the US flag. Many US trawler type boats that make a large wake, do not slow down in no wake zones.
I will be going to the US Gulf Islands next week. I will fly the US flag in the appropriate position, as will the other members from my Yacht Club.
If as many US bike riders came as boats, they would be everywhere.
BTW, my boat is moored next to the customs dock in Victoria BC. I get to see the many US boats arrive.
Just thought of one more thing. US customs charges each visiting boat $28- which is good for one year. Canada charges zero.

Absolutely LOVE Victoria. I visited a couple times when younger, then honeymooned there about a hundred or so odd years ago. I've been meaning to go back.. the museum there has been one of my all-time favorites.. but I don't return to Washington State as much as I used to. Need to make a point of it before my folks kick off or sell the home place like they've been talking.Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

The best way to get around Victoria is by bicycle.
I park the bike ( Yami or Bluzu ) about two blocks from my dock, and my bicycle stays on the dock, always chained to something.
Lot of activity in town for the Labour Day weekend.
We head to Roche Harbor on San Juan Island this Sunday.
