Good thing it wasn't an XS11. He got a bit of rear tire smoke, and I don't think I can lock up my rear wheel on any of these XS's.

Just got back from a short 12 mi. ride, this same thing just happened to me only my rear brake works my front left as well on the 81LH. Got slowed enough to miss his little Ford Escape and time to hit the high beam right in his drivers side window ( my head light is bright ) man he was looking right into the light and quickly turned his head away. Bet he saw black/red or maybe white for awhile. Seemed like he pulled out on purpose. Kept watching to see if he would turn around and follow but nope, I just kept going, did not really feel like doing the Morgan knocker anyway.

I don't think it was tire smoke, no tire marks on the pavement. I think that was the mist from him pissing himself!!!!

Wow... Work on those brakes then. Or better yet, get some stainless lines. On extreme panic stops, my bike basically is doing a stoppie anyway with the back end hopping around up and down off the ground, so back brake is useless at that point, but still, you should be able to skid with the back no problem.

I had 4 instances last fall alone when people pulled out in front of me and I put it into a rear slide. Very easy to lock it up, even with my original rear brake lines.

If you can not lock up the rear wheel there is a problem like Trbig says fix your brakes. With the leverage available on the foot pedal and the advantage of hydraulics working the piston, the forces it would apply to the rear brake are incredible.
I had a buddy who used to lock up his front brake on a 81MNS at 70Mph on the highway just to show off his riding skills. It was impressive to see until you thought of how dumb it was.
While these brakes are not world class they are sufficient enough to get the job done very well.
