So i started dating again last year after being divorced since 2007.The first couple of women it went nowhere.A free dinner and they and I parted ways.Recently met a woman and getting those feelings again. She lived with a guy for 20 years and never got married.Me being the single guy only was married briefly(2 years)Since it is only me i don't really prepare meals for myself, only simple stuff.I guess that is an issue now as i get asked every night what i had to eat.I tell her and she thinks i should fix more complex stuff. Its not an issue with me,but it is with her.Just ranting i guess.Trying to adjust and its not easy.

Just tell her you would be happy to eat more complicated stuff, it just takes someone else fixing it. Unless you want her wondering who she is involved wiht later, do not set yourself up to be who your not. SWMBO will occasionally bring up something I do that bugs the crap out of her, and I just tell her that it has not changed in over 20 years, it ain't going to be different tomorrow either.

My wife is the same way. If she is working overnight she will ask what I had to eat the night before and it usually was some weird hodgepodge of whatever was there and not a coherent meal. Then she laughs at me and makes fun of it.

        Interesting

Two things come to mind. First, seems you joined the forum right around the time you got single again. Coincidence?
Second thing is, we always think the worst, she's wants/trying to change me. Could be she is concerned about your health. Study up on nutrition a bit, then ask her pointed questions and ask her to teach you how to prepare better meals for yourself. Will make a good topic for discussion and a cheap date a couple times a week having her giving you a cooking lesson at your home.
However, and this is important, when you get these feelings, a hooker will be a lot cheaper in the long run.

I joined the forum when i came back from Germany in 2007.I've had my XS since 1986.It went through 21 years of service,2 divorces, maybe 5 girlfriends and the death of my Father. This woman has me thinking of marriage as the subject has come up.And she is a nurse who does care.Just have to convince her that i lived this way for years and things will change if i ever do get married again. They say 3rd time is a charm so who knows.

After 33 years with my only wife, I've come to the realization that I still don't know anything about women, and just when I think I'm starting to get a handle on how they work, I find out I'm wrong. I almost think she enjoys keeping me off balance.

I've also got 3 daughters, but since they don't live with me anymore, I don't have to worry about keeping them happy...

I often tell people the only thing I know for certain after 22 years of marriage is this "I am NOT funny........Ever!"

                Little known story from Genesis:

God created Adam, and saw that he was good. Not long after, though, God noticed that Adam was sad.

GOD: Why are you sad, my son?

ADAM: I feel lonely, my Lord. Could you make a companion for me?

GOD: Of course, my son! I will make you a companion that will cook for you, clean for you, understand all of your needs and wants, and will mate with you whenever you desire. All that I must take back in return is both of your legs and an arm.

ADAM: Jeez...what can I get for a rib???

When she starts harping on your habits, mention that she sounds like your ex-wife. That should clear up the conflict quickly....

Haywardguy929 has it right! That REALLY IS a very good representation of the difference between men and women. I'm also going to try it for the third time, and I know SWMBO has some quirks that annoy me. Such is life, if you don't want to be alone for the best part of life.
And I am "lucky" in that I have a son and a daughter. They are both out of my house, though the daughter is still in school, so dad gets to help with car stuff untill she gets the degree and a "real" job.

                        One question

Does she like motorcycles, or more importantly, does she like you owning a motorcycle?
She asks what you eat, and she makes you nice meals because she cares.
                        Please repeat after me:
Yes dear, your absolutely right dear, whatever you say dear.
If you require anymore brilliant advice please just ask.

                            Dinner Invitation

A man invites his friend back home for dinner. The wife screams at him . . ."I've not done my hair, not done my make-up, not done any housework, not done the dishes & can't be bothered with cooking! What the **** did you invite him around for !

"Cuz he's thinking of getting married."

Maybe, just maybe dating is a strange awkward thing to her and she doesn't have any better idea how to find out about you. It could be she was trying to find a way to offer fixing dinner for you sometime but scared to be forward. Men often being intimidated assume women are so much more complex in their thought processes. Often I think they are so much more complex because of there lack of logical thought process. Keeps us on our toes when dating and pushes us over the edge when married.

If you like her tell her you are just a simple cook and wish you knew more about it but if she has a suggestion you would be willing to try it. This way you leave it open ended and vague just exactly what you get from her. Now its all up to her to make a more clear defined approach.
To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
