I think it's more along the line of what mack said...
I always ask John and the kids what they've eaten so I know if they've been eating healthy. Not that it ever makes any difference... they'll eat what they want to eat. lol
At least she cares enough to ask... but as was said, if she wants you to eat healthy, she might want to prepare the meals for you in advance.

      The rules

      Hi Oldyam,
      Women make the rules.
Men are not allowed to know the rules.
If a man learns a rule it will be changed.
      BTW
Cooking is easy, the instructions are plainly written on the cans and packets.

From the time they could talk, I've always preached to my three boys that a restaurant job was a good way to go during college. Indoor work, fairly pleasant, people interactions, you'll have some idea about food prep, and you'll always be able to eat.

So far, none of them has taken me up on that, but as a teacher, I'm used to having good advice ignored.

honesty has always been my policy,it has gotten me in all kinds of trouble, but at least she knows where I stand. If cooking is not your thing, tell her that's why you make simple meals. For me,I don't mind cooking sometimes, but the clean-up sucks.

Wife and I both work full time, so cooking chores get split up. I have leaned to cook basic but healthy meals. Nothing fancy, although I make a mean beef stroganoff when I really feel in the mood to cook. Wife is not a great cook, likes baking better and is very good at it. Between us we manage to stay well-enough fed.

A GF asking what you eat may be just getting background info to keep on mental file. No use cooking something you won't eat or don't like.

No advice on dating, been married to the same woman coming up on 39 years and would not know where to begin if I had to start again. However, one piece of advice: find out what makes her laugh. You can learn a lot about someone by observing what makes them laugh; base values, life observations, and mental outlook. If these match yours then the relationship may work. If not, keep looking.

Reminds me of Seinfeld.. Always looking for that little annoyance in women instead of all the great things. When she asks what you've eaten, just tell her "A big bag of pork rinds and a couple beers. Oh.. also a cold piece of pizza that I found in the back of the fridge"

Maybe she's just looking for a conversation starter.

And also, do what Jerry said. See what makes her laugh. If it's dismemberment and torture that makes her eyes light up.... lol.

Well thanks for the replies. When i first started dating her, she told me her brother was dying of cancer at age 38.He just passed the 6 month time that the Dr. told him he would not be here. She also is doing online classes(she is an RN) so with everything going on the relationship is on hold until she catches a break. We text everyday on the phone and i will give her the time.So now i concentrate on my bike, work and other things.Such is life.

                        Little things

Listen when she vents, don't interrupt. Let her blow off the pressure then just hug her and hold her if you can. If not, send her little stuff, an uplifting card, a rose, maybe a healthy basket of food delivered to her work if she's pulling a long midnight shift. It's the little things they like. Stupid stuff that just lets them know your thinking of them and that you care. Stuff like that gets better milage than the usual manditory, expected days of recognition.

Sorry to hear that. I work with 2 people who are currently undergoing treatment, one is chemo and the other is taking radiation. Both doing OK so far but cancer is mean stuff.

Try to be there for her. Different people need support in different ways; your challenge will be to find out how you best can help. When my mother-in-law died of cancer the best I could do for my wife was just to hold her and listen a lot. Good luck.
