I`am thinking about replaceing the throttle on my bike{78E standard} with a after market type. While there is nothing wrong with what I have, it just looks bad.The kill switch does not work, same said about the starter button. The only thing that works is the light switch.I can move the light switch but am worryed about the throttle cable.Would I have to change it?What would be a good replacement?Anything that might suprise me if I do this? Thanks

Well I did some tinkering and adapted a starter button off my dirt bike on to my xs.It was not hard to do and the button is easy to reach. The starter button is a stand alone type with everything enclosed.I then plugged the hole where the stock button would go.Looks unusual but works good which is the main thing.Replaced the screws on the throttle ass.,one with a larger screw head and the one that holds the throttle cable in place with a 8mm head bolt with another nut to take up the slack.Still don`t have a kill switch yet but leaning toward not installing one.The bike still has the tipover kill switch so that should have the bases covered. What do you think of the update?Bill Harvell
