          IBM Rules for Success?

          Rasputin,

Well, mebbe those character traits wouldn't exactly be welcome in the "traditional" workplace (Mod/Furr'em) environment. At IBM however, you'd likely be a valued employee and those traits would be welcomed. (I know cause that's the first place I worked at straight out of college...)

I'll paraphrase something the Head of IBM said that was from a magazine. It was at the time when every other major US company was getting their proverbial heads cut off by the foreign companies/businesses (The pacific Rim) and respectfully handed back to them on a silver platter. The interviewer wanted to know IBM's secret for success in such a harsh and competitive environment.

Head of IBM said, (Paraphrased by me...):

"The biggest mistake most managers make is to hire and surround themselves with friends. The kind of people that you go fishing with or maybe play with on the same softball team on weekends.

This is their biggest mistake. These friends won't tell you what's really going on. They won't tell you what's wrong or about to go wrong because that would upset you or cause you to worry. They care for your well being over the well being of the business.

Find the most arguementative, beligerant, tactless, and abrasive people in your company and put them in positions of authority. Include these people in your daily meetings/interactions. They will find and tell you the truth regardless of how unpleasant it may be.

Surround yourself with these individuals and there's no telling how far you'll go.
          "

          If you became a Mod???

          I could live wit' it.

BTW, Is the "Tired of Stickies" issue Resolved to your satisfaction? Just sayin' that "old bid'ness is usually resolved before takin' on the NEW bid'ness". I may not have hijacked your original thread but I prob'ly added to it spinning out in a new direction.

            Heck, I'd be a shoe-in there then!
Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!
