How many years ago was it when we didn't "need" a cell phone in a car?

I am serious. How did we survive and live without the electronic "pet rock" that everyone seems to have to have in a car these days?

I own one but it is OFF when I am in a car or in someone else's business. Whoever is calling me can leave a message.

My wife deals with this when she is at work. In a very busy veterinary clinic she invariably has someone in front of her that has to stop to answer and talk to a ringing cell phone. She just says "Next".

How often has someone had a life or death call while driving their car?

I have a phone, and I have it on in the car, but I don't make calls. I'll answer hands free if it's someone I know, but only if it's someone I know (I have custom ring tones for people I know so I know as soon as I hear the ringer). If someone else is in the car I let/have them answer the phone rather than me answering the phone, and on the bike I NEVER even think about answering.

        I stand corrected

The only time there is a phone ON in the car is when Deb is riding shotgun...

To fix the problem one should not make more assumptions than the minimum needed.
