We had the Meeting of the Minds here in the DFW area until last year in Texas but had to stop since we have three teenagers in band and that has become all consuming.
(did I mention ALL consuming? lol)

We almost need two areas. Having it here in the DFW area, it was a little more central to the midwestern states as well as south Texas. Anything north of that and we lost a lot of our original TeXSives due to distance. Anything south and we'd lose some of our members from other surrounding states.
Besides, there isn't much in the way of good riding roads here.

It'd be nice to have someone in your area take up the gauntlet. Definitely some nice roads in your state (and those surrounding).

There hasn't been a Talimena Rally since Trainzz accident.

Good riding there and fairly centralized.

We used to get a pretty good turnout for the Talimena rally, but yeah, Tranzz death did put a serious damper on that, along with the fact that there were a few people that we got tired of. A couple didn't ride very well, yet kept jumping back into the middle of the pack at stops causing HUGE gaps in the group. Several would get by them, but then at the next stop, they'd jump right out there in front of those people again. Then there's the time they screwed up the whole rally because they wanted a pic with the group, but after riding all day, they wouldn't ride another 9 miles to the overlook where we'd already planned a group pic. There's a lot more I could get into with the ones I'm talking of, but with some of their drunken comments the night Trainzz died, there's still some ticked off individuals.

I'd try to have an enjoyable day, but people would gripe that I was leading too fast, then others would gripe that I was going too slow, but the slow ones didn't want to get their own group. Then they'd gripe at how long the gas and lunch stops were. It just got to be such a PITA that I thought it ended up being a lot like trying to herd cats.

We now have a smaller group of regular guys that usually go up to Eureka Springs, AR for the weekend at least a couple times a year and go tear up the roads between there and I-40 to the south. Talimena doesn't sound like a bad idea though, but I've got zero interest in leading a big rally again.

                Ride

I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and would be glad to start organizing a ride for next year. Too much going on this summer for me to plan a decent ride.
