True you dont see many, but rare? Not rare as in valuable rare, just the Specials were more popular. Venturers in 81 you see more of than 80 Standards.

Anybody know production numbers?

Pretty Decent for $1K

Looks to be a pretty good buy at $1K
Looks to have changed the exhaust to the Special pipes.
Wish I were a little closer, but that's a long, long way, from Central Tejas

Hmmm........kinda looks like a Venturer except for the solid rotors. It has the short special exhaust, that tank looks like the big one, definitly not an 81 engine though.

I love that Vetter setup. I want it.

Original Pipes

Talked to the seller and the pipes are the original,
but they were rusted-out and he cut them off...
They're even shorter than the Special...

I waited nearly 2 years to find a "rare" 81 Venturer
Now i see them all the time so not that rare
This example looks like a well put together collection. Yamaha fairing with Vetter bags and top box. nice paint job.

Maybe, but compare it to the standard tank in the link I posted. It's got a lot taller rear section.

I agree, IIRC the Venturer tank has the indents less rounded at the front, with them more squared off. It's hard to tell how tall it is for sure without the seat on there, but it looks around the same height as mine in relation to the fairing, which I know won't tell for sure as the Venturer's fairing usually has spacers under it to hold it higher IIRC, at least the ones I've seen did, and the non-Venturer's don't have those spacers, they sit right down on the bracket with no more than a pretty thin rubber gasket under them at the most, which sits them something like 1/2 inch lower than the Venturer fairing sits even though it's the same fairing.

Two rubber strips between fairing and mount base............but spacers......never heard of such a thing, unless they were added by an owner. Bought mine new and never had such things. Looks to me to be a good way to create isolated stress points on the ABS.

I'd only seen a couple, you being an original owner would know. That was my thought too but I figured it was to help with clearance, but now I know it was likely someone screwing things up.

If the spacers were the same size and shape as the flats on the mounts I don't see how it would create more stress. It's one way for us TALL guys to get a little taller windshield.

Be all right I would think if the spacers covered ALL the base, otherwise unsupported cept for 4 mount points. Measured from center top to bottom is 21" on my original windshield. The replacement I used was from a same era Wing Aspencade which is 25" tall and had the vent holes which I installed the new replacement vents from Vetter.
