He might be an ebay dealer.If the parts you're selling are at a good price he may be planing to resell.If the money shows up in your paypal account I think you're good.

When I sell on craigslist, I have people contact me from all over the country. I too seach 'allofcraigslist' for stuff too. I've used ebay and paypal for over 10 years with no problems. Paypal is a safe and efficient form of payment. The UPS account is the way to go. It is cheaper. I don't see any problem with this transaction. IMHO

Well, it sounds like the consensus is that it'll be fine. My initial skepticism kept me from calling him back, and now a week's passed. I'll try calling him tonight or tomorrow to see if he's still interested. Wouldn't blame him if he hung up on me though.

How did this turn out? I have a bike for sale and the guy is offering to use paypal and have it picked up. Here's his email

Lets see, a military guy in Sere training?? But can not even write in english? They all want you to take paypal. Must be a thing where they know how to stop payment or fake out paypal credit card information.

Tell the dude whoever he is having come pick the bike up, can bring the money, cash in hand. When they arrive with cash the bike is sold, until then it is for sale. Since he is already working out how to pay them to come get it, just add the cost of the bike to their bill.

I would hope anyoen on the net has a couple email addresses. I have one I use for home, my work email, and then one I use for online service stuff. So anyone who tracks or hacks to the online one will not find anything personal or work related.

Same thing with credit cards, I have one very low limit card I use for all online or over the phone purchases. Should someone get that card info, they will not have much to spend.

The one thing I do not yet see mentioned is that if you click on the link that they have provided for paypal, it is also part of the scam. If you click on that and enter your info, they would have the same info as if you had applied for a real Paypal Account. For shame what some people will do to rip off another person.
If that email came to me I would report it to everyone from the mods on this site to the email hosts I have. Currently I run about 7 different email accounts for various reasons. The one I use for info such as banking etc can never be accessed from the one I reply to XS11 forum from and my paypal is under another email acount. I even use a different one for Facebook so if people get any info that way it is useless.
You can never be to careful about what info you put out on the Net as dishonest jerks will use and abuse it.

I had a friend last week phone me last week telling me he sold his tractor he had listed on kijiji for asking price by some guy that texted him. He then told him it was an area code he didn't know. I googled it turns out it was a new york #. This guy told him that he was a marine engineer and wanted to contact him by email as he was at work and could not talk on the phone. He then told him that he would pay using paypal and would arrange the shipping he also said he would pay the paypal charges. I then told him that it was a scam and report it to the police, and his joy for selling his tractor went into sadness but I would rather see him sad than out a few thousand $ for his tractor.

I got those scam emails a lot from craigs list, almost all of them were sent from a gmail.com account. They were never local and wanted way to much information as well as having it shipped. I reported each one. Like some fricken bozo from Texas wanted to buy a 1977 Silverline boat lol.
Once they have your name address and some other information they have a start at raiding your credit cards or using your identity to buy stuff. Becareful.
