Anyone who'd care to weigh in on this, I'd appreciate your take.
So, I'm selling parts from a Seca on my local CL. $40 takes all I have left. I got a call from a guy in PA asking about the parts. In our conversation, there were a couple things that aren't how I'd go about buying parts, & therefore strike me as strange.
--Says he wants the wheels, doesn't matter if the tires are on or not. I explained that tires on increase size of package, & substantially increase the cost. He wasn't worried about that.
--He asked about condition, I said they're good & I can email him some pics. He said no thanks; he trusts me, and anyone selling parts for cheap isn't looking to scam anyone.
--I asked if he wanted the final drive with it. He seemed to be unclear on what that was. After I explained it, he said sure, even after I told him it's going to add weight & shipping cost. He said that's fine.
--I have the wiring harness + goodies plugged into it, listed separately, $45. I'd forgotten how much I had it for, said $50, he said, sure, throw that in too.
--Biggest head-scratcher: he said whatever else fit in the package with the wheels and harness, throw that in too, let him know how much it is, and he'll pay for it.
--He has a UPS account and would send a paid-for shipping label, or give me the info to log in, or something. I wasn't quite sure what he was saying about that.
I googled his number & it belongs to a business that appears to be legitimate. There was an article of another business buying the customers from this one. Computer services and such. Said he'd pay via paypal.
Now, I'd hate to deny a fellow rider some needed parts, but I sure don't want to get hosed on the deal. What to you folks think? Give the guy a break, or run for the hills?
