Looking at used Road Trek vans.Gas,under 50,000 miles,Chevy frame..I figure when I do get one I will just go out around Oh Ky and In to see what it needs and how I wanna set it up.My 11 might be lonely for awhile.
Something I have never done with an rv,something new.I am lucky enough to be able to do this.
Hello! Merry Christmas .!! Been rv ing for about Fifteen years maybe more.Gas is cheap now ,,, great time to take advantage of traveling....!Rves are like boats when you get one you wish you got a bigger one.!!!
So think it out ...My suggestion would be to get about a twenty or so footer to start class c motor home .That's the one with the camper that hangs over front of vehicle, ie sleeping area...Some dated ones you can get cheap...They never have many miles on them so often in good shape... You want to make sure everything works, when pricing.and always take for ride....Because people often lie.....There are many systems in Rves that need to be checked. There is plumbing. if not winterized right you will have leaks. You need help.someone that's owned one ,for advice...
Those vans R small. Two people 19ft motor home ...Trust me on this one..
Of course it is easy for me to spend your money. Good luck you can pm .me.

      • Tom thanks for the rv advice. It is all new to me.I know a few basics that I want. Will be going to an rv show in two weeks to look at new ones and droll but I will go used for sure.I want something that if I wanna go to the store it is easy to do,fit normal parking spots but I want it to be 6'6 tall inside in the body.
Seeing too many videos..this might work

          • Hi Bill,
            How about a trailer instead?
            https://vimeo.com/126883800?from=outro-embed

Probably costs more then a used RV but it certainly is compact.

            • Really don't want a trailer especially something that small. This is what I am leaning to..not this model but something like it to putt around in for a few weeks at a time..north area in the summer and south in the winter. The northeast is an area I have never been in.Well once in the winter delivering a hot load of Barclay cigarette advertising posters from Maine to DC and points in between,I remember it was a nice cab,CL9000 Ford cab over:-)

Think you will be unhappy with that ,you need to be able to stretch out,....YOU NEED TO BRING LOTS OF SUPPLIES,NEED STORAGE AREA,IE COOLERS,BLANKETS, HEATER ,F00D WATER.....TOOLS!!!!!THIS ALL TAKES UP ROOM.....When traveling,Its like stocking your house for road trip, computer, wireless connection, at all rv parks free....please check out 20 to 24 ft class c used motor hm first,..make sure you ask if everthing works and roof is sound..you have to always get up there and look at roof..Leave money in budget for brakes and tires.usually these need attention..when used...I have a feeling you are a classic rv er.......and will enjoy it a lot.Put motorcycle on trailer in rear., and you r ready to go....those vans r to small..and big money ,get more for your money with class c motor hm.....

                • Thanks guys.I did some online searches of local dealers and class c...lot bigger than what I want but A new one is in the mid50's.Think I will give it a major consideration.Don't like the 6 wheels because of the cost of new tires.I like diesel but with an rv you usually don't put on that many miles a year, under 50,000 so gas would be fine.I do want a generator, stove, few other things but it it is for a solo operation.
Think my cat would kill me if I took him on the road let alone leash an 11 year old cat.
I am gonna miss my 11 alot, not for sale but I don't think I can ride it like I used too.I saw this on 1/1/16..this was made for me...

Bill that looks like the "Dark side" and very comfortable
There are some small C class that certainly have more room than the B class.
The Roadtrek is a great machine but it comes at a steep price in both $$ and lack of convenience. As tom points out no where to put all the "stuff" you want to take along.
