Hello New to site with a intake question

    DO replace the vacuum plugs!! They can look good, but still leak! Ask me how I know! I am probably about the age of your dad, as I had a '78 new in late '77. The biggest problems I see now are second gear and the damn vacuum plugs! I've fixed more than one bike by replacing the plugs with new ones.
    I DID get a "set" of vacuum plugs from Harbor Freight. They seem to work well, and have gone for a year now! The box IS full of plugs I don't need, though....

      I've been buying plugs from a truck parts place for years... they're the big thick rubber plugs they sell for big rigs. I've been using them on my 4x4's and tow rigs for years without a failure... gonna grab me a couple to throw on there... holes in pistons suck

        ya I got a second gear issue growing... We'll see if I wanna lick it on my own. If not I got a forum brother lined up to help me out. May not get to it till spring. So much to do so little time

        I've learned how to ride it without pissing 2nd off... but thats like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound

          I've learned how to ride it without pissing 2nd off...
          I got away with that for a while. Mine started with first gear popping out. Once second gear started, it was over. Still, I think it unlikely that it will leave you stranded.
