    Draw it!

Since I am semi-retired I sometimes earn a few extra $ by doing some light AutoCAD work for some of my past customers.

      Hi old skool,
if you'd ever clamped a hot-melt joint together then absentmindedly wiped the excess glue off the seam with your fingertip (it looks just like carpenter's glue, right?) you'd have a better understanding of how well a hot-melt glue gun will work as a torture device.
About weaponry appropriate to discourage one's daughter's boy friends:-
My youngest girl was being courted by Delmer, a farm boy. Delmer was in our yard, looked in the kitchen window and said, it's good to see your mom still rolls out her own pastry rather than using that store bought stuff.
She's not rolling pastry, she's rolling her target arrows to check them for straightness.
Last time we ever saw Delmer.

        Guns, guns, guns...

My 2 lovely daughters have reached the frightening age (for a father) of 16 & 17 years. There is a standing rule in the house that any male of about the same age who shows up gets introduced to my 2 good friends - Mr. Remington and Mr. Winchester.

          Hi Barrelguy,
the trouble with daughters is that they can come home pregnant.
The trouble with sons is that they can come home having to get married.
The trouble with modern times is that either of these is better than a child coming home after catching something fatally incurable.

            troubles

You are very right, Fred. I will never forget a comment from a good friend of mine whose daughter's first 'date' showed up at the front door. He said all he could see was "a six foot penis in a leather jacket". That should probably be the end of this thread!

              Hi barrelguy,
this is a true story. My cousin Terry was 21 and escorting Josie, who was 15.
              He told her parents
" Josie will be 16 next month which is when I am taking her to a hotel and getting her pregnant. We'd prefer that we had your permission to get married before we did that."
              That was in 1960.
              They are still happily married.

Today, in this state, Terry would find himself in jail. As the father of four daughters, I can assure you, I would have no hesitation to have him locked up. I have a 16 yo in my house. When I'm home, she doesn't step out with anyone who doesn't come to the front door, shake my hand, and look me in the eye. She says I'm "creeping" on them. I say, "Damn right I am." I think I get my point across without showing off or mentioning firearms.

No motorcycles. Around here, most of the boys like four-wheel-drive pickup trucks. In some regards, I'd prefer to see the motorcycle.

What were we talking about? Oh yea, extra money! If I want more, I just have to stay on the job longer. In the past, I've gone as far as "power seller" on eBay.

yeah, getting ready to get real heavy again into ebay, got my eye on a GS1100 project as well. But need money for the XS1100, so GS may just be means to the $$

                    Hi Marty,
I carefully said, "escorting". As in going to the movies together and perhaps holding hands.

Everybody needs money, that's why they call it money

I have not needed to sell, find a job, beg, borrow or even steal anything to support my XS. I was lucky in that my SF was complete and unaltered when I found it. All the years it sat hidden in a shed had heaped neglect but that was mostly cleared up with my time of which I have an abundance. Once back on the road, I have added accessories slowly to increase my comfort, mostly from ebay and some locally as my limited “disposable” fixed income will allow. Just added #2 Vetter lowers I yet have to paint to match the Jammer III. I recently found a spare “parts only” engine with 3H3 ID#, another XS11SF for the price of “Get it out of my garage, I’m tired of looking at it!” Before I found my XS, my life had fallen into stagnation with no direction except for church and MY GUNS. Now if I’m not riding, I am busy with Pledge and a rag, fiddling with my most recent find or looking for the next tidbit. Every time I step into the garage and see Monster there, my heart rate jumps with the anticipation of the next adventure, that might be a ride or the next find.

Way back when my daughter started receiving guests, one of the first things her visitors saw on entering the house was the big goose gun on the wall. The nar-do-well's eyes would get BIG. The guys I liked asked questions. My daughter thought it was all amusing.

                                Python

I carried a plated Python just like that ( but with 4" barrel) when I was a cop. Also kept an M1 carbine, folding stock,16" barrel, selector, & air cooled front grip. Either 1 of those caused people to pay attention. Especially when you jacked the M1. The carbine fit in a briefcase, with 2 30 rd clips welded back to back. At that time police officers were exempt from federal firearms laws.
