What do you do for extra money to spend on your bike??? Just curious what people have come up with to generate extra income for their bikes. Being somewhat retired, limited income, I really don't have "extra" money, so I try and sell things I no longer need or use, sometimes buy and part out bikes/atvs/cars for more than I purchased, it's the only way "the boss" will let me fund my project. What are some of the things you do, can always use more ideas!!!

sold the harley
When I turned 70 my offspring convinced me tha i was too old to safely ride anymore. I sold my 58 HD FL.
After a few months I thought: This is BS!
Always admired the xs11s, rode a 750 Maxim b4 HDs, & almost bought an xs11 back in 82. Seller & I ended up $200.00 apart & agreed to disagree. It was a 79 Special. Big mistake on my part.
So, a couple of years ago I saw an xs11 (78) for sale on a local supermarket bulletin board. bought it for $800.00. Since then ,I've bought (&sold) 6 more. still have 4. Work on them more than ride, but still ride.
The upshot is I still have way less money in the Yamis than I got for the hd!
i BUY & SELL PARTS ON EBAY & OCCASIONALLY SELL CHEAP TO MEMBERS HERE.
It's fun.Tom Clisham

So far I haven't had to sell anthing or do anything in particular to afford the bike dimentia, but come next May I will probably be in a situation where some of my beloved accumulations will have to go. I probably could sell my mechanical aptitude because no one I know anymore knows a damned thing about fixing older machines. I have helped a couple guys who were my age but they never were given the gift when they were younger to actually tear into something to see how it works. Even if a person can't fix something, like a worn out cylinder, if you take your time you can find someone who can bore and recoat the thing and that could make the diference between trashing a good machine and gettig it back on the road. That's just one example on how a person who has the will can find the way. Can't beat the smell of gas & oil
