Not that big a deal
I wasn't trying to be secretive. I was comparing these two mechanical assemblies and the owner groups. They even have what I feel is the equivelent to our 2nd gear fix.

I've discovered a few safety concerns with the original design of my SKS and looks like I will be doing some filing.Pat Kelly

There was more interest in this thread when the other site was unknown.
Looks like I have some filing to do on my hammer/sear interface (2nd gear fix). Replace the floating firing pin with a spring-loaded one (Tkat fork brace).
The other similarity is that there were a lot of SKS's imported (like the XS) and there are still quite a few around. A lot of shooters have or have had or has a friend with an SKS. So they do qualify as a curio or relic when not modified. If you do change things then you have to make it 922r compliant. I'm glad the govmt isn't quite as interested in motorcycles as they are firearms.
One difference is the value of the SKS is going up. Used to be you could buy one for $80 new. Now $200 is a good deal with some going for much higher.Pat Kelly

Guess that means my Russian SKS(1952) is a "bobber" with the Butler Creek stock and Wiliams peep sight.......but has the forged reciever and chromed lined barrel. Could just be called "comfort" mods as on my Venturer. Decent trigger pull for the style, so no sear (2nd gear) mods.............81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.

I only wish I had an SKS. But right now I'm glad all my firearms are a couple blocks away in a gunsafe, as I'm afraid I'd be shooting someone if they were more accessible to me right now. But for the moment my limited time and money that doesn't go into living and eating goes into keeping brutus happy being that he is my commuter vehicle (as well as recreational vehicle).Cy

I'd advise against shooting someone, you are highly likely to get caught and although the free board and lodgings are a plus the rest of being jailed is not a good thing.
Better you publicly forgive the fool and watch him writhe with embarrassment.Fred Hill, S'toon

Why don't you hook up with them? That town don't exist, I've ridden through pretty much all the areas it's supposed to be in, and yes, I watch the show. I thought about getting the patches and going as a member of SAMCRO for halloween
, but the thought of spending $300+ on a costume
(which is what it costs for a quality set of patches) was a bit much, I could get a good project bike for that money
.
