Conventional "wisdom" on cage tires

That has actually happened to me in a front drive car. Raining hard, going straight on the e-way doing 55mph (speed limit at the time), the back end shot out from under and came around without warning. Totalled the car
The back tires were worn about out and I had the good ones on the front.
Ever since then I keep my tires rotated and replace them 4 at a time.

OK, I read the page, and thanks for that, but still... If I'm going to loose traction on two wheels, I had much rather it be on the back. As long as I have traction on the front I can at least keep the car headed in the right direction. Are all manufacturers bought into this?

Hi Ed,
I am with you on this one. I inflate my rear cage tires 2 psi lower than the fronts to make them "hang on in quiet desperation". Remember rear wheel drive and crossply tires when sliding was normal ( at least I thought so)

You mean that's not normal for that to happen if you go around the corner and press too hard on the gas? (my fun cage when it runs is a Camaro).

I inflate all 4 to 37 lbs and if things get slippery I drop it into 4 lo
doesn't mean I can stop any faster though
