  • Venturer Gas Tank on eBay...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1980-...item2c5cbe47e1

Mis-identified as a '80 tank, but that's a Venturer tank all right. Big dent, but you could go in through the petcock holes to knock most of it out. Looks pretty clean inside.

Just a FYI for those looking for one...

    option

"Less than sane" Steve - (politically correct terminology)

Wasn't the 24liter tank an option in 1980 and only offered as the Venturer package in 1981? Seems like I read that in a vintage magazine article somewhere (who can remember)...

I agree that is a good deal for someone needing one as long as it doesn't get bid up!!

Adding in a 79 Special that seems like a nice candidate in Indiana...

Actually sometimes with a dent like that you can put the air pressure to the tank and tap around the edges of the dent with a rubber mallet to pop it out.

Hey John, the speedo says 80 or 81, so milage is unknown on that one. All else does seem to point to 79 though. Worse part is its only 1-1/2 hours from me, in area I go through often for work!! D-I-V-O-R-C-E......= Another bike!!!!

Added to my watch list. If the price stays right I may jump on this one. It will take some work to sort out, and the fill area is pretty rusty and it will need to be completely stripped and painted, but I'm up for that, and since I was thinking about slightly higher bars, that might work out ok. It would give me a tank to spend some quality time with to make really first class before it went on, and I could have two tanks, one for long range and one for town (although I'm not sure why).

Maybe just a backup tank hanging on the wall.

Oh yeah, I tried that once. It widened the spacing for the mountings, and other bad things. I don't recommend using air pressure this way! It about scared the pee out of me!!!

That sounds like a bit to much air pressure lol. 35 psi in a tire works as the tire is rubber and has give. A solid gas tank though requires much much much less.

That means none of us will be able to afford it and someone else will come in and pay more than any of us can afford to pay for it.
