    Safety stuff

Might be a good idea to have a couple of those chemical glow sticks and a good LED flashlight in case you get caught out after dark. If you battery goes flat the chem sticks might keep you from being hit by a cager.

        Ah yes

Clutch/brake levers, forgot about that. Got LED flashlight and a windup one too. I think one of my most valuable things is the AMA card with roadside assistance for just in case I forgot something....

If you replace everything that you could need with new stuff, i.e. cables, filters, pads, plugs, etc, before you go, then you've got more room for bottles of booze and bags of weed for later.

The booze isn't too likely to cause a problem, but the bags of weed could well loose you the bike outside of Ca. Some/a lot of those states practice zero tolerance, especially on out of state vehicles. Even more so on those with Ca plates on them, they all think we're pot heads anyways. Even though some of us are, there are a lot of us who aren't.

My trusty mini bat takes care of such foolhardies. Doing an oil change before leaving with filter and will do one on the east coast so don't need a filter as I only change it every other oil change. I do have a few nitrogen cylinders, but I've found it takes at least four to do the job and that's not really full. I prefer the compresser. As for roadside assistance, I'm an AMA member for many years and the free roadside assistance works. I have also made arrangements for a new tire in Ithaca, NY for the return trip as I only get around 4,000 miles per tire.
If your going to Ithaca make sure you hit up the Buttermilk Falls, some nice riding up that way, I love riding NY, I hate the winter!

                            CA money

This Cantaffordya money goes over better than that Worsington bulls**t that the whole country has to deal with. Gonna do this trip because it's been on my "bucket list" for a long time and I figure I better do it while there's still a country worth seeing.....

FWIW, I carry the usual fixit kit but as always, the thing you need is the thing you don't have.
which in my case, took phoning my wife to bring the trailer a hundred miles to get the dead bike home because all I needed was a can of contact cleaner to get the ignition switch working again.

I've been telling you all along to join the AMA. FREE roadside assistance surely could have gotten me a can of cleaner. Only $39/year, magazine, etc.
I even explained how to get it for free every year....

Print it, fill it out and send it in.....
