I use a full face, and today was good example why. I rode to a rally yesterday in our South Island central districts, often called fruitlands (local slang), where there are lots of orchards, and lots of bees. Bees in an open face (3/4) helment hurt more from impact than they do from the sting.

Travelled home today (250 kms) in the pouring rain and smiled politely at the 'hard arse' bikers with their open face helmets and rags wrapped around their mouth. BTDT, not going back. Even seen one with without glasses or goggles on. Looked like a chinaman squinting at the sun.
1980 SG. (Sold - waiting on replacement)
2000 XJR1300. The Real modern XS11. Others are just pretenders.

Too funny! We got lots of those here as well. Always ware a helmet, and require it of those who ride behind me. My choice is a full face for myself and a open face lid for my wife( she's claustrophobic) I broke the rule once as a young man in the service. Took a ride in the mountains around San Fransisco on a friends chopped sportster. I rode a 71 Honda CB750 K1. I had no business being on that chopped bike on that road. Put it into the side of the mountain on a switchback. 11 days in the Oakland Naval hospital and scars through my left brow where the sun glasses cut through. Not hard for me to remember the skid lid!

Full Face Helmet, without one I would no longer be riding, or here on earth. Nuff said.

Back in 1983 a full face helmet saved my life. In addition to the hits on the back there was a big scar on the front over the chin area. I don't like to think about what would have happened to my face with a half helmet...

3/4 all the way. If I had to wear full-face, I would sell the bike.

And before anyone argues, I have over 35 years without needing a full-face.

Maybe not having one made me drive better?

              Besides, real men aren't pretty.

I ordered a new HJC IS-33 (with shield, another item I have never ridden with) so I can retire my 19yr old Shoei.

Too much! Nobody ever accused me of being pretty, before or since the accident. Ugly don't need more ugly! Really, every time I look into a mirror I am reminded how stupid it was to try to put a sportster with a raked and extended springer front end through those paces.
Choice of helmet is personal. Lots of times I have cussed it when waiting for a train and wanting a smoke. Then I remember I'm not in that big a hurry, pull off - get off the bike and helmet...

I have each kind and I wear all of them. I don't ever ride without a helmet.

I have a half helmet that gets a lot of use because I like the wind in my face and some of the bugs taste pretty good. I have a 3/4 that is quieter, but still gets the wind in the face.

I have an Arai full helmet that perhaps, I wear most. I'm sure it's the safest option, but I can't pick my nose while wearing it. (I wear fingerless gloves.) Invariably, as soon as I start rolling, some place on my face starts to itch. It also obstructs my vision a bit. I can't see my mirrors without moving my head, or the clocks.

I wear a 3/4 these days here in NC it is the law back in IL where I am from there is no helmet law and I didn't own one until I moved. I feel full face obstructs my vision and I have a fairing so no need for a visor. I went down here in NC and broke the windshield with my face, caught my leg on the handlebar and face planted tearing my lip away from my gums. Got up wiped the blood off my face made sure nothing was too badly injured picked it up and drove it home. Looked like two face from batman and walked with a limp with a blue grapefruit on my thigh for about a month. As my old buddy Dave used to say before he left this ****ty world "there are only two types of bikers those who have been down and those who are going down." Helmet or not we play a dangerous game and I for one enjoy every minute of it

                      Helmet

                      Always wore a helmet.
                      Always landed on my arse.
                      Helmets are a good thing.

I shall invent an arse helmet. Think it would sell?
