Hey Jerry $3.60 a gallon for reg gas is awesome were up to $5.20 a gallon for reg. up here. - Dan
Yea, but your Imperial Gallon is bigger than our gallon...

No kidding, that is a lot of money. Even down here I'm seeing more bikes on the road than I normally do at this time of year. Temps supposed to hit 60 deg F today, but rain/snow in the forcast for the next couple days, particularly for Friday. Night time temps below freezeng again. Its not really spring yet.

Motoman lent me a set of Vetter Hippo Hands. Nice! With those and the lowers plus my long-calf socks it is not bad riding at or near freezing, but I really prefer temps closer to 40 deg F for my 56 mile ride to work.

Ken: Like your photo. You really need to get a snow machine! (Snowmobile to those of us here in the lower 48.)

40's last week, 70's and 80's this week. The geese have headed back north, and the turkeys are camping out in my yard again, so spring is close! Luckily Oklahoma winters are usually mild enough that I can ride the bike to work after lunch 1-2 days out of a week. Mornings are too cold for my liking.

Here in Fort Wayne... Mother Nature is like a diesel engine coming into spring... it takes a while for her to warm up... Today was in the high 50's, maybe low 60's. I rode to work and then it was warm enough to ride without a coat today.
            Current Rides, Restorations, and Projects:
            1979 XS1100SF with 6400 original miles
            1991 Nissan 240SX with RB25DET swap

            1983 Mazda RX-7 stripped out
            2000 Ford Expedition 5.4L

            Previous rides:
            2004 Harley-Davidson 1200 Sportster Roadster
1992 Ford Tempo with a 1994 Ford Taurus front end (drinker's car)

Here in Northern WI we have an unusual mix of things that other people call spring. You can tell when spring is close because the deer start wandering around in the back yard:

This causes me to sometimes rush the season a bit however. I dug a path through the snow to the Dragons Lair and got the Little Dragon out for a ride:

I had figured that being it was 49* outside and the roads were mostly clear that it would not be all that bad out. Problem is that at that temps the snow was melting and so was the gravel. Here you can see where I buried the bike in the mud as I was going down the driveway:

After a bit of pushing and a LOT of profanity I did get out and now have almost 600 miles on for the month, not a bad start on the year for this latitude.

              1981 XS1100SH (The Black Dragon)

If there are more than three bolts holding it on there, it is most likely a very important part!

                  ride

Won't be any riding today, we are buried in snow. That is Wisconsin for you, ride one day, snow blow the driveway the next. But, we DID have a few nice riding days. The snow plow just went by, and spreading about a 1/2 ton of salt per mile. Most of the roadside pines are at least half dead from the salt splashing on them. Mine died two years ago. I just wonder how much salt the County used this year. You would think people that live here would know how to drive in snow, but all they seem to do is cry cause there is snow on the road. MORE SALT. RUSTED CARS AND TRUCKS. NO ROADSIDE VEGETATION.
                  Hope they are happy.

Was watching some show on discovery one time recently and I think they said something like 85% of salt produced is used for roadway salting.

One of the good things about living around the environuts of Cantafordya, no salt on the road ANYWHERE, even where it snows. And guess what? They manage to get them navigable even so, it takes sand and such, but they manage. Of course, most of our snow is up on the mountains. It does make for longer lasting cars and bikes though.

Who, Ca? No, the enviro waco's actually are fighting them even using sand. They want them to just let nature take it's course. They don't want them to manage the forests, but then when everything burns up because of all the undergrowth that didn't get taken out by the small fires that would normally have happened in a truly natural forest, it's all our fault then too.
