Hey guys, been doing some thinking over the winter about upgrading beyond the ol'XS... Anyone ever ride or own a ZRX? I've been looking at them for a while and have considered getting a ZRX1200R. I really like the old school look but think for the year and price a little more HP would be in order, they haven't really improved on it in 20 years. Any thoughts about the ZRX and any alternatives in the general price range of $3000 for early to mid 2000 neural riding position bikes?

Have never ridden but...
I hear its somewhere in the middle of our machines and a crotch rocket. Recently I changed over to a set of ZRX carbs on my 1100 and while reading over a bunch of threads on several ZRX forums, so I could get ideas, I came across a few that said the modern power is there in the motor since it is water cooled with a great electronic ignition but the frame and high riding position leaves something to be desired in handling. Sounds familiar?
Now having said all that, if I had the room for a second machine, a ZRX would be right up there in my choices.
BTW, the carb swap out is almost a plug-n-play deal and the performance is well worth the work.Mike Giroir

My buddy had a ZRX, 2004 I think. He liked it because of the upright riding position. He sold it because it was just too fast. He wished it had a 6th gear though. Now he rides a Triumph Tiger 955I.2H7 (79) owned since '89
3H3 owned since '06

Zrx
Just looked at a couple on ebay. This bike is very similar to the Yamaha FZ1 and from the looks of it, would probably ride about the same. I love riding my FZ1 except for the seat. They have a tendnecy to squash the boys if you know what I mean! I know I was suprised when I first rode it how well it felt. My FZ actually rides better than the RoadStar Warrior I just bought. If you buy the ZRX, you will probably like it a lot. By the way, there are a couple of nice ones on ebay.78 XS1100E Standard
