    Hi Chris and welcome,
you mean the headlight rim is black instead of chrome?
If you need a used OEM replacement see Andreas Weiss' ad in the parts for sale forum for all things XS11.
You can get new stuff that'll also fit an XS11 from MikesXS:-
    http://www.mikesxs.net/products-77.html#products
even if they do insist they only sell XS650 parts.

What you probably have is the bucket from inside a Windjammer fairing. I've seen that done before when someone whated to remove the fairing but didn't have the stock bucket to install between the ears. The headlights are all over ebay, so you should be able to find one easily. Just be sure you get one from a Special (round) and not a Standard (rectangular). Here is one without the bucket, just to give you an idea of what they look like.

So I take it then that the 750 and 850 headlight setup is the same as the 1100?

The ears and bucket are different aren't they? The glass and the outer ring are the same though?

I only get online usually with my droid and I zoomed in on your avitar and the tank kinda looks like the standard but as I said I am on my phone and its a small pic. The bucket on the standards is black and they are rectangular. But I believe vetter made fairings for factory bikes so it could be the origional just with the fairing gone. Your seat kinda looks like the touring standard seat as well. It didn't have a cowl like the other standards. Does your vin start with h7 02****** if so its a standard. Like I said I am on the phone so a full size pic would be a little easier for me to look at. If its the special tank then please ignore some of this... can you post a large photo. Thanks

I can tell you that everything forward from the bucket is identical, and all the little parts and pieces will swap between the 850 Special and the 1100 Special and MNS. The buckets have different part numbers, but I have no idea how different they really are.
