Riding in Wisconsin when the deer are in rut at dusk so I can't say it surprised me. Deer jumped out in front of me and I hit the brakes at about 60mph on a paved road that was covered in gravel/sand mix and put the bike down.
Bike Damage:
Engine Guard (will need to replace)
Handle Bars (will need to replace)
Blinkers (will need to replace)
Side Cover (will need to replace)
Small tear in seat (I want a different seat anyway)
Small scratch on chrome of headlight and speedometer (I might replace them because it is chrome and it should look pretty)
Clutch cable insulation worn through (will need to replace)
Front fender is bent (fixable)
Me Damage:
Light bump on head (I usually wear a helmet but I didn't bother putting it on since I was going for a "quick" ride)
Road-rash on left forearm and hand (no leather, just a flannel so I got lucky here)
Broke the nail of my big toe (if I wasn't wearing steel toe boots I probably would have a broken toe)
So yeah... I will be looking for these parts eventually. I need to go over it real good and make sure that is everything though.
All in all I have to say as I laid down my bike at 60mph and was able to get up and get back on it and ride it home with only a few scratches on me I would say that I am pretty lucky and I can't complain.
