I can't understand why you would want one! The OBD code reader is just that, it reads the error codes from the computer, and gives them to you. I LIKE being able to print the codes, and not have to worry about "was that 1404 or 4104?".

Yes but I am talking about the readers the connect to a laptop and gives realtime info from sensors as well as the troublecodes. If I just want to know a code I can use the one at a parts shop for free for a minute.Nathan

I know there used to be some serial port connected ones. I'm sure their still out there (it's just a cable and some software) and there may be USB ones out there now, either that or the serial ones may work with a USB to serial adapter.Cy

The ONLY reason you would NEED something like that is if you are trying to find as problem with a car that does NOT show up all the time. For me, a hole too throw money in. I just put some of my money down on a "new" ride, thank you.
If you ARE trying to find a problem with your car, then it may work for you.
Not trying to be too snippy, just can't seem to understand the need for the product. OBD-2 and CAN products are for troubleshooting problems. If you have no problems, why bother??Ray Matteis
