        No doubt about that, but the question I really wanted answered was how many Special's (SF's and SG's) there are. They apparently cant (or wont) identify that from the rego info. In almost 12 years of riding mine all over the country I have'nt yet seen another one.

            I know of one here in CHCH that is very rough, the guy who owns it, Les, treats it like crap, it is very tired and from what I remember he only ever rides it to the March Hare Ralley using a dealers plate.He use to own ACME Auto Wreakers in CHCH, the type of guy who does not care much about his rides.

                    Where am I

                    This is my first post on this group.
                    I just bought a 79 XS Eleven Special. Has about 45,000 miles or kilometers on it, not sure which, will know next week.
                    The handle bars are awfull and will be changed before I go anywhere.
                    The rear shocks are bad too and they will be changed.
                    But where am I? Gabriola Island BC Canada. At this moment I am in Victoria BC where my sail boat is moored.
                    My new bike has a Vetter full fairing, matching side bags and top box, all in an ugly red / brown. This bike will be for two up riding with Mrs Snippets and winter ( as in rain ) riding for me.

                            Ther is actually quite a few canucks here and many are not owners on this forum. Do a search on Kijiji Alberta and see at least 10 bikes for sale pretty much at any given time. I guess they just do not know of this site.

                                Well, I'm in the central coast of Cantafordia, and I know of at least 2 other local Xs11 riders who are either anti social, or internet illiterate, and one Guru who hasn't responded to this poll.

                                My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                                I've been riding since 1959.

                                                        I think he was actually thinking of the "central U.S." rather than "central america" which are two separate entities. I have though heard other "Americans" refer to the central U.S. as central america, it's that U.S. myopia. Actually a lot of countries have it, only ours often kicks in about the entire continent rather than just a small portion of one like most countries do. It was kinda assumed at one point that all of the america's would either be part of the "republic" or tied to it in some fashion. Ain't happened yet, although I'm not sure it would be a bad thing if we could come up with something like the European union for the American continent. Wouldn't be easy, but we need less divisiveness, not more.
