try being 21 and insuring a bike... for full coverage through my company, it ould be about $1800 a year.... but I'm used to it... clean record, and I was still paying $9580 a year for my first truck... PL/PD on the bike bought for $1200 they only wanted $444 a year though... not too bad.... but if I have a wreck, I get nothing for the bike...
There are only two types of bikers...
those that have layed it down, and
those that have not layed it down...YET!

Full coverage on a bike like these is a little sketchy. In all honesty they bikes are worth 1500ish maybe 2000 max for pristine condition according to book value. Not saying you cant get more for them from the right person (and I don't necessarily mean dumb by this). So full coverage your not really going to gain much if you balance it against the cost.

I pay about 180 and year for liability and medical coverage for my 78. If I were to put full coverage replacement value insurance on it it would add on about 250 a year. Yeah if I smash the bike early on in the policy life it pays off, but in the long run (and not so long run depending on the condition of the bike and book value) it just doesn't pay off. You would be better off saving the extra cash you would be paying to the insurance company.

I guess that my 2 cents. Hope you find someone for your insurance!

Things are DIFFERENT up here. I pay about 550 a year and carry only PLPD on the bike. It's way too much but we have very few options and all the insurance outfits are in bed with each other and the government.
I have not looked further for a different carrier but did receive a nice thank you for being a loyal customer letter from my agent yesterday. I renewal is fast approaching. I intend to call her on Monday and tell her point blank that I have no intention of having to deal with 2 insurance companies to cover my items. If i have to buy my bike insurance from a different outfit, I will be taking everything else to that outfit. She will then have the option to fix this issue or loose all my business. As it turns out the guy I was talking to was covering her accounts while she was on holidays.

Not bike insurance but health. I got a notice BC?BS was denying the $103,000 hospital bill from the wreck since I didn't have "pre-authorization". The hospital is trying to work it out with them...

Yeah right, like you can pre-authorize an accident? That's one of the reasons I carry medical on my MC insurance, and let Progressive fight with my health insurance. Although, I have not actually had any problem with my health insurance co, even for the 3 days in CCU because (as it turned out) I had heartburn (acid reflux). 3 Days of not eating dinner or anything and tests in the morning, and then deciding they needed more tests the next day so I didn't get dinner or breakfast the next day either. I did lose some weight though being on only a diabetic lunch for 3 days (oh, and some crackers in between).

                Happy ending

I called my agent today when I received my renewal policies and it took her all of 15 minutes to call me back and say "fax me the safety and VIN info" as soon as you can. So I will get this info to her on Monday and all will be as it should have been in the first place

                    The plot thickens .....

My insurance company called me today to inform me that my agent is no longer with the company and my bike IS NOT INSURED !!!!!. So back to the drawing board to try to find insurance for this bike I may just bite the bullet and go with vintage bike coverage.

Jevco quoted close to 800 a year as a "custom" and want it all up front. Dalton Timmis will be getting a call tomorrow as will all state.

                          Update

I called Dalton Timmis and got a quote of $697.00 for PLPD only with option to pay the premium in 4 payments at a cost of an additional 3.0% . However, if I get the bike appraised and its value is at least $1500.00 I can get full PLPD, fire, theft and collision for $534.00 and pay the premium in monthly payments. Appraisal will cost about $100.00 to $150.00 and is good for 2 years at a time. This is the option I will likely take.

Are you telling me that an appraisal will drop the premiums?

When I searched for quotes they all came back at 628 and everyone was underwritten by Jevco regardless of company.

In my case not only does it reduce the premium, it is full coverage and on monthly payments. This is what I was told on the phone by the lady I spoke with. Do keep in mind that the quote is based on the bike being valued at 1500.00 or more. I will guess that the quote is based on my bike being insured at the 1500.00 threshold. You also can not put more then 2000 km a year on the bike and its use must be fully pleasure. No day to day use like to and from work.
