Posted this one a while back, here it is again. Riding backwards on my 79F. The exhaust is a 4-1 Kerker with the baffle removed.

      Not Meant to be Seen...

      Phil,

      Niiice.....

Is it a coincidence that the backwards view only shows the backsides of any/all posted speed limit signs and doesn't show the speedometer/Tach???

Yep, lol, didn't want to incriminate myself for doing 50 in a 25.

Technically....there's no visual evidence to identify who was the driver, the motorcycle itself, or even if there really was a rider at all. Maybe just video and audio editing magic.

Though I must say that however you acquired that awesome soundtrack of a 4-into-1 exhaust and then dubbed/synchronized it to the actual accelerated video footage is quite an editing accomplishment.

How far past stock is TC's bike, or will these things just do that??!?!

              Kronk,

I dunno for sure about TC's bike. Sheer speculation on my part here, but I'd say that Godzilla is not just past stock/OEM but XS'vely past if you know what I mean. (If it's worth doing then it's worth OVER-doing, right?)

I'm sure that what was caught on TC's video was a combination of bike HP and rider skill. Not faked with digital editing magic like the following videos(no sound...):

I guess if your bike's name is Godzilla then there's a good reason, eh?

Looks like that little camera done ya right, Larry. In particular the video didn't have that jittery/wavy effect that seems to plague my on-the-bike attempts.

My cameras had an offset mount that caused the camera itself to tilt whenever I hit a bump in the road. Took care of that by fabricating an adapter plate that centered the mount to the center of the camera. Still have that "wavy/jittery" effect cause the cameras don't have that high speed shutter or that high speed memory system like yours so delightfully demonstrates.

Thanks for capturing that 4 minutes of sweeper Bliss where the bike leans in-and-out of the turns so gracefully.

(I ALMOST get that but then I usually encounter a Stop sign right as things start getting good...)

                      Thanks!

It's so small that it doesn't take much of a mount, or space to mount it. I had to replace the mem card it came with, it wasn't fast enough. I put a 4GB class 10 card in it and it works great. I still get some "wavy/ jittery" spots when the rpm's are just right. But that's only sometimes when taking off or coming to a stop.

By the way, if you need any type of flash memory card, I found this place called TheMemStore.com. They have the best prices that I have found, and give good service too.

                        Flash Cards Are the Ticket

                        Larry,

Huh...could'a fooled me about the jitter. I'll post a video of the "behind the scenes" one day showing my cameras and the mounts.

I'm using some "el-Cheapo" cams that you'd likely give to a 4'th grader to play with. More of a toy than a real camera. I've got the real deal camera but it uses digital audio tape. That means it has a spinning head inside like a VCR.

I just can't see the DAT camera (or another camera that uses something that spins mechanically like one with a hard disk drive...) living long in this world if it's subjected to that kind of vibration.

Flash Card cameras don't have that problem cause there's no moving parts.

                        (Thanks for the memcard link)

LarryM put together an XS1100 ride video composite from a series of videos we made when we took a short ride up in Washington. He's satisfied with the video quality after the YouTube format conversion. I think it turned out great and I've posted Larry's video along with a few of my own that I made when I rode across the Cascades in Washington. Thank you, Larry!

                                Nate,

I "tried" to make a camera mount. <suction cups and duct tape>

After getting headaches/nausea while trying to watch my videos I broke down and got a store bought from Ram Mounts:

You can "build your own mount" here:

                                http://www.ram-mount.com/EmptyPages/...3/Default.aspx

Still, I told Garthxs that I'd do a proper post with pics of the mounts on the bike....

Can't get to it right now...Delivering a sailboat....

Thanks Yahman. Anything to do with an XS/XJ in motion gets and holds my attention.
