  • Just an FYI

I probably won't be around the forums much. My 79 decided it didn't like living at my house anymore and tried to burn the house down. My family and I are living in a hotel at the moment. If anyone needs to get in touch with me, I'm sure some of the SWOXS folks have my number. Be well and I'll be back when I can.

Everyone do me a favor, if you don't have a fire extinguisher in your house, go get one... Right now.

    Carl
If you don't own a fire extinguisher, do me a personal favor and go purchase one... immediately.

Holy Crap....What happened? Anything I can do to help let me know Carl. You know I get up that way often.

Were you working on it? Or did it leak and some freak thing lit it on fire? Again, anything I can do to help, let me know.

Hey my heart goes out to you and your family, while I've never had a house fire of my own I've had a few close family members experience it. Hope the damage to your home was limited to the garage area.

Unfortunately, he had no garage, the bikes were parked up on the wooden front porch which had a nice roof over it. Had to get the front of the house and its an older 2 story all wood home.

I'm just very glad it sounds like his lovely wife and little boy are all ok!!!

WOW ... Sorry to hear about this. If the bike was outside what caused the fire? I hope it doesn't turn out to be brain dead VANDALS.

I spoke to Carl today, to let him know about Don, according to Carl, the house and both his bikes are more or less a total loss, the bikes might be rebuildable, but he is not going to attempt it. he was pretty down about it, but as he said, no sense crying over spilled milk, time to clean up the mess and move on. not been a good week for XSives in the rust belt.
have a nice day and ride safe

Anyone interested can go to this link for pics of what is left of my bikes.

Maybe one day I'll rebuild the 79... not any time soon though, that's for sure.

                              Hate to see this

If you are keeping the 79 the fire looks to have been hot enough the frame may have lost temper. I would be very leary of that one.
