This seems like a better place for answers than the manufacturers.....

The Yamaha DSP A1 reciever manual says to not have the AM/FM Tuner in "close proximity" to the amp. That being the DSP A1. However there is nothing said about what constitutes "close proximity". The fact that the reciever weighs 60 pounds and is loaded with copper must have an effect but would having the tuner a couple components away be enough?
Would something like "up one, over one" do it in a double rack set-up?

Even just up one should be good enough, if it's a separate shelf...I would guess.

You threw me by referring to this as a 'receiver', but it's not; it's an integrated amp (or more correctly, a 'processor/amplifier').

Distance? You're trying to avoid the effects of the magnetic field around the amp transformer. This fades very rapidly with distance, so 3" will probably be adequate, 6" should do it no problem. Keeping your tuner signal input (whether it's an antennea lead or cable) as far as way as possible from the amp will be a good idea too.

I stand corrected. I knew that without the tuner it was just an integrated amp but habits die hard.

I had my old tuner on the shelf above my amp in my old system and never noticed any degraded reception. I figure the warning was because of the more powerful amps inside the DSP.

Figured I would find out before I wrestle that amp into place and find out I created a problem...

Yeah like Steve said 3 to 6 inches should be ok.If it has to be mounted closer it will effect the performance of the amp but I drought you'll notice the difference unless you're trying to get the neighbors to call the cops on you.I would be more worried about ventilation and cooling if your rack mounting especially if your equipment is in a cabinet.
