  • Things you NEVER hear in Texas but were said yesterday and today...

    Time to shovel the driveway...

Do you think we can get out on the street through all of that snow?

This snowman is bigger than me!

The new snow from last night made the snowman lean...
(okay... so he wasn't very stable to begin with... he's seeing a Dr now)

We had over a foot of snow and set records for snowfall...

This was the most beautiful snow we've had in this area as long as I can remember...

Of course... having to get the snow off the patio cover before it caved in made me realize how thankful I am that this doesn't happen very often...
    lol
    but it sure is pretty...

    Yeah,

Where is that Gore feller when you need him? This busted the record wide open. Snowfall averaged 12" across DFW which beat the record by 4". The roads should clear off today.

It amazes me to see places like Dallas or even D.C. buried in snow while up here in NH, we haven't had any large amount of snowfall in weeks. Heck, the news was showing the lack of snow they have in Canada for the Winter Olympics. Maybe they should move them to Dallas.

          Yeah Kat,

It got down to 27 in Denton last night so it was a skating rink on 35E this morning. Funny thing- it only got down to 31/32 in Dallas so was not too bad. Came home from work yesterday at 4:30PM and my car has accumulated 5" inches of snow since then. I thought most of the snow was over by that time.

          BTW- I ain't riding today!

Geez John! Where's your sense of adventure?
(okay... so mine is snuggled up inside away from my bike right now)
            lol

I knocked 7 - 8 inches of snow off the patio cover yesterday around 5:00... When John got home from work around 7:00 he knocked another 2 - 3 inches off... and there's another 2 - 3 inches up there now... at least...
Sooooooo... nope... it wasn't anywhere NEAR done...
            lol

Getting ready to go play in it now...

climate change is not the same as "global warming"

The pictures of fallen snow as so pretty .... but .... the novelty sure wears off in a hurry. Especially in an area that doesn't get much regularly, people never really have an opportunity to get any snow driving chops. When it happens in W. Washington there's is always the pinball effect on the freeway. Everybody is driving in packs, so as soon as somebody panics everybody gets to enjoy the fun!

This may come off as preachy, but I'm weary of Demint, Inhofe and all the others climate denying yahoos (Rush, the Fox crew etc.) trying to distort the picture with crappy info. Heavy snows that are unusual don't argue against climate change. The phenomena is a world wide one that is measured cumulatively on a global basis. And the simple fact is that weather systems are not turned upside down immediately, but slow increases in overall temp express themselves dynamically region by region. When the overall temp is rising, even very slowly, but steadily, weather systems pick up more evaporated moisture, even in the polar caps, and when moisture laden systems encounter the cold streams that for the time being are always there seasonally, guess what ... precipitation is directly increased, sometimes astronomically, if the saturation is great enough. Winds are increased and flow patterns are altered. Hence "unseasonably" harsh weather, hot ... and cold. I have a friend that goes to the antartic with the National Science Foundation usually once or twice a year. They see the actual originating changes first hand each trip. The problem is real; it is potentially catastrophic. But mankind is not famous for grabbing the obvious solution until their own personal ass is on fire.

When "leaders" like Inhofe, Diment etc are stupid in their public utterances, inevitably a large number of their followers are typically misled. Usually because it's the least demanding and simplistic position to select; even when it operates directly against personal interest.
A fine running motor is a tune you just can't get out of your head.

                  You are a spoil sport

I thought we were having fun with the snow and cold. It ain't often we get to do that. Winter is usually ugly, confining, and boring.

                      Now...

Back to our originally scheduled programming...

Please don't turn my post into another debate on global warming or anything political... I stay out of the Hot Button forum for a reason... I really would prefer it not be brought in here...

Not to be a *itch... but it's a pretty sore spot for me...

                      thanks

By the way.. I am currently taking a break from my igloo building... Yep... you read it right... I'm building me an igloo.. okay... it might not turn out that way... but the intention is there...

Up here, we rarely get that much all at once. However once it comes it stays for months and accumulates. My front lawn is under about 2 feet of the white s$%t right now

Do you think Mr. Gore will come and shovel your lane-way for you. He likely would but if he did it would be like admitting that we can live through all this global warming that's suppose to fry us all soon. Him and his lot should be tared and feathered.
