Yeah... had a taste... and no thanks... It's beautiful but I couldn't do this on a regular basis... I don't mind taking it off your hands for a few days though.

It did start melting already... hasn't been below freezing much at all...
Tonight will be a different story but then we have some warm stuff moving in after that...

The strange weather we are experiencing this year has nothing to do with global warming, it is caused by El Nina, a routine warming of the South Pacific Ocean that happens every 7 to 10 years. When this happens it causes the weather patterns to shift forcing the cold fronts normally in Canada to shift south and east, causing snow in normally warm areas and warmer then normal temperatures in the north. Right now the area west of the Cascade mountains in Washington State should be having warm cool rainy weather, but instead we're having near record warm, dry weather. There is also an opposite phenomena that causes unusually hard winters in the north called La Nina.

Washington there's is always the pinball effect on the freeway. Everybody is driving in packs, so as soon as somebody panics everybody gets to enjoy the fun!

This may come off as preachy, but I'm weary of Demint, Inhofe and all the others climate denying yahoos (Rush, the Fox crew etc.) trying to distort the picture with crappy info. Heavy snows that are unusual don't argue against climate change. The phenomena is a world wide one that is measured cumulatively on a global basis. And the simple fact is that weather systems are not turned upside down immediately, but slow increases in overall temp express themselves dynamically region by region. When the overall temp is rising, even very slowly, but steadily, weather systems pick up more evaporated moisture, even in the polar caps, and when moisture laden systems encounter the cold streams that for the time being are always there seasonally, guess what ... precipitation is directly increased, sometimes astronomically, if the saturation is great enough. Winds are increased and flow patterns are altered. Hence "unseasonably" harsh weather, hot ... and cold. I have a friend that goes to the antartic with the National Science Foundation usually once or twice a year. They see the actual originating changes first hand each trip. The problem is real; it is potentially catastrophic. But mankind is not famous for grabbing the obvious solution until their own personal ass is on fire.

When "leaders" like Inhofe, Diment etc are stupid in their public utterances, inevitably a large number of their followers are typically misled. Usually because it's the least demanding and simplistic position to select; even when it operates directly against personal interest.

Think it was in 1981 I was passing threw Texas. Planned stop in El Paso. Weather turned from windy clear blue skies to overcast during dinner but no rain ... it snowed. When it reached about six inches, packed up and followed an 18 wheeler out and did not stop until we got to CA...

I think it was just to show you that it could actually happen here... after that razzing you gave me around Christmas time...

I heard on the news this morning that all 50 states had snow... That's pretty cool... except for the fact that some of the states are getting hammered with it...

Too bad we can't send some of it up for the Olympics...
