It's the "cabin fever" and it spreads fast this time of the year. There's not much to do in these colder parts but count the days to spring.

Even here it sucks, that and the mag-chloride bleedin' to surface makes for some slick that looks like normal pavement. Especially near intersections, curves and hills. Besides that it hadn't broke 40F for a few weeks.

Ya, you want to be watching out for that white crusty CRAP on the roads. I was on my way home from work this morning and hit a patch of that stuff on a 417 ramp in my truck and did several donuts. The rear tires let go with no warning what so ever! it happened so fast I don't even really know how many donuts I did. Ended up facing the wrong way on the shoulder of the ramp. I was lucky and didn't hit anything.

Sucks here..we had 5" of snow...whats the worst is that they are totally dumbfounded and dont have the means to deal with it...other than the interstates the local roads dont eeven get sanded or salted...around here they use the term scraped rather than the roads being plowed...So this town will be closed until mother nature melts the roads down...could take a week...

Hey BNE, you're not in Jersey anymore!! Welcome to the SOUTH!

Yep, we got about 6 or so inches during this once in a 20 year event. We don't have much equipment OR budget for treating the roads. The main highways get plowed, sand/salted, but the side roads and neighborhood stuff is still mostly packed ICE! See photos below! This is our house with SWMBO standing out front...this was BEFORE I shovelled the driveway/walkway!

This is just looking down the street and the frozen ice pavement!

But I still get to go to work tomorrow...SWMBO and I will be car pooling since we work just a couple blocks apart, and her car has ALL wheel drive, mine has only rear wheel....it's a big Xterra SUV with tall tires, but don't trust the rear wheel stuff on this slippery stuff!

TC, as you probably already know, all wheel drive only helps you go, nothing helps you turn or stop. Its a lesson alot of people have to learn the hard way.

In this part of the world, we get a typical snow fall of 2-3 " at a time which melts in a day or three. But then at least a few times a year we get 12 or more. Thats is when we get high sales levels of the 4 wheel drive vehicles and snow blowers. And then you get to see half the new 4X4 vehicles off the road in a ditch or rolled on their tops because they could not turn or slow down at the speeds they were able to get to because of the 4 wheel drive.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.

                    I love Snow

I love Snow and Ice, for about 1 week. Lived in it for 20 years in Cleveland, Ohio. Then moved to Sun Diego and havent looked back since 1985. I feel for you guys up North and back East. The people are definately tougher there,,,these wussie Californians shrivel when we get a light rainshower, not counting all the Illegals that can't drive anyway. Anyhoo,,,,Spring is coming, the Sun will show its beautiful face and the Yammies will be growling to cover some miles. Almost forgot,,,,it was 70 and sunny the last week or so,,,,just got back from surfing 10 foot waves and the wife is looking really good lately...he he he, life is good

East? South East? I hear you Okie's and Arkie's really got slammed! Y'all still in survival mode? Got yer power back yet? Pretty tough here... I had to put a sweater on under my jacket to go for a putt!
