          Quite a year so far.
Had the heart attack Christmas Day. Off all of January. Cleared to drive mid-Feb. Ok to throw freight in March.
Been on a regular run from Central CA to Pratt, KS. Drive six days, one day off.... repeat.
Got a new truck 2 weeks ago. Old one had 702,000 miles on it. New one had 833 miles on the odo when I got it. A touch over 8,000 now.
Tomorrow (5/3/12) I go to San Fransisco to deliver and pick-up. 5/4 head to Los Angeles then Moriarity, NM.
I was in NM a week ago and the buzz was a motorcycle and a big rig had a conflict. The driver was unaware of what happened and sadly the biker was dragged under the truck for quite a ways. Everyone watch out out for each other.

You got that right Pat,I drive tri=axle dump truck, and I wouldn't tangle with one of these, never the less a 18 wheeler.Neither one of them play nice with bikes or 4 wheelers.Drive safe.Oh,and I see you drive for DOT,Here in upstate N.Y. we don't like DOT.We run around them. They love to give out tickets at the end of the month.

Tomorrow (5/10/12) heading to Oakland and San Francisco. Taking that product to Grand Island, NE.... again. Be in NE on Sat., swap trailers on Sun. (Mothers Day and my Birthday) then follow the breadcrumbs back home, repeat.

Looks like Fremont, CA.... San Francisco, CA.... to Grand Island, NE is going to be my regular run. Leave early Thur mornings and get home early/mid Tue. 3,200 miles each week.
                  Winter is going to suck.

Are you still driving that volvo? How do you like it? Doesn't sound like your winter will be too bad. I remember when i used to run state side but now i am just a short haul/city p&d driver now home every night. swmbo would do terrible things to me if i did long haul again and left her at home with 4 kids.

Glad to hear you are still vertical.

Winter will be bad? Worst freaking heat wave and drought since 1956 and you say Winter will be bad? I count my blessings every day that I awaken to our blessed coastal "marine layer."
                      Nice to hear from you!

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                      I've been riding since 1959.

They stuck me with a new Volvo, mfg 3/12. I liked my 06 better. New one has less power, weaker jakes, auto-shift like my old one only now no clutch and can't manually select gear. new brakes are wider so they squeal horribly. I does have a nice stereo. I put all my CD's and a couple of audiobooks onto a flashdrive and just plug that in. Eight speakers that will go as loud as I can stand with almost no distortion. My CB already burned-out the co-phase box so I have my own single antenna on a birdperch.

Driving I-80 in winter is not fun. Especially when I'm not comfortable in 'real' winter conditions. 60 MPH crosswinds blowing snow across the highway can be disconcerting. I'm told in winter we will go the southern route. I-40 thru Flagstaff and New Mexico isn't much better.
I'm used to fog, others know snow. Depends on where you were raised I guess.
