i think there was some real misunderstanding i was alreadying bidding on that fairing and i told harry about it. wrong.i can show u a whole list a very big list of ebay buys for this bike so i had no problem paying for the parts and have offered to. second i will be glad to pay for what i ask for there is no terms there at all. so as i will say send me a bill ivan and it will be paid so there will never a reason to say what u have said. no more would of been said if you had left it alone but u could not so now let me excuse myself before i say what i am really feeling.1980 xs1100 sg.

Unfortunate.
How we act and behave around others can sometimes have such a negative effect. How we appear to others can have a equal effect.
I've had to work along side people that I wouldn't have peed on if they were on fire... After 5pm.
There are over 5,000 registered users here. Seems there might be room here to ride and discuss for everyone.
This might also be a good time to consider how our words and actions appear to others. Just maybe?

While your intentions may have been good... as was stated, the way your actions came across, especially to those of us (and VERY especially to Ivan) who are friends with Lee and Terri... your actions didn't settle well...
As has also been stated, selling your bike is your choice... There is plenty of room here at Channel 11 for everyone to play nicely...Last edited by Wildkat; 12-22-2009, 05:58 AM.81 SH Something Special

You know, I just had an entire book of a response written and just deleted as it hit me, this entire thread is about getting attention. No other purpose can be had from it.
Sorry the bike and the site mean so little to you, hope it finds a home where it is actually cared for.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

This never needed to be thrown out in public like this, but since it has.
I attended Lee's memorial service and went with the guys over to his house after. It was a very nice service. We were there to honor Lee and more importantly we were there for Terri. At Terri's request, Russ had brought his trailer. She wanted all of the bike stuff gone. That was understandable. I will say that Ivan's account of Albert's actions were accurate. He made it very clear that he really really wanted that fairing and to "not forget about him" when it came to the parts. He seemed somewhat upset when we told him our plans for the stuff. As Ivan said, we wanted to either use Lee's parts to rebuilt his bike and give it to his son, Terri, or sell and give her the money. The other option was to auction/ebay the stuff with the proceeds going to Terri. After the fact he did say he would even bid on it if we put the stuff up for auction.
The main problem was that Lee's memorial service/wake was not the time or place. In fact, it was exactly the wrong time and place. Everyone there was grieving. The only reason we were doing anything with the bike parts was that Terri asked us to and most of us live 4+ hours away and Ivan couldn't do it by himself.
Albert knew he didn't come across well. He called me and was worried about it about an hour after we left Lee's house. So, Ivan was not the only one who felt he was out of line.
This site has alot of great people. Sometimes personalities clash though. I know that I have probably pissed a few off myself from time to time. A few have pissed me off on occasion. Never once did I think, I will just sell my bike and go home, or leave this site just cause one person doesn't like me anymore.Harry

To the Kansas group, and Kat:
I just wanted to say how sad this is to me. Hate to hear this kind of thing's happening. Shouldn't be.
I remember the group discussion after the crash... Terri wanted it all gone... and who could blame her. What did the guys from Kansas do? Russ graciously took his own Bob Jones bike cover off his bike, and covered up Lee's for Terri's sake. I helped him.
I remember Ivan... the total shock disbelief, grief... on his face.
Kat, how hard you took the news... I'll never forget that. Broke my heart in a million pieces to see my friends grieving like that.
Harry... I'll always remember what a great friend, help, & man you were that night. You made a HUGE impact on me... I was very impressed... and knew I really wanted to get to know you better... I wanted to be your friend.
Tod Bigelo... how personally he took it all... how he started blaming himself 50 ways from Sunday... as group ride leader... second guessing even the route he had chosen...
Terri... I was blown away by her... in her worst moment... the toughest point of her life... she was more concerned for us than herself! Lee was such a lucky man. She's an incredably strong woman.
Me... I was just in a total state of shock... I wanted to help, but felt so helpless. After 6 months of posts & PM's back & forth, I had finally got to meet and ride with this fella that had made me crack up so many nights reading his posts... now he was gone... in an instant... just like that.
I'd never get to ride with him again... and I had just met him.
I remember the group discussing what to do with the bike, and all that Terri wanted gone... and I WILL ALWAYS remember what was said... it was all about respect for Terri & the family, and if she wanted it sold... it would be handled, and the money given back to the family. NO ONE had any selfish motives or goals... quite the contrary! It was all about sacrifice for them, helping any way they could. And it was HONORABLE.
Devilschild, you & I have never met in person, and I sincerely hope what your saying is correct... that you have been misunderstood. I hope you didn't try to personally profit from this situation like it seems.
However, I HAVE met these guys... IVAN, RUSS, Tod, HARRY, KAT... I have ridden with them all now... and knowing them as I do... I don't have any reason to doubt or dispute their word. It's as gold to me.
Leaving the site, selling your bike... seems pretty chicken sh*t to me.
I agree 100% w/ Don.
I understand if it's all a misunderstanding, that's one thing... but if it's not. and what has been said is true...now that you've made this public... MAN UP! Do the right thing...
Leaving & selling the bike would be the LAST thing I would do... especially if I believed in my heart all I had said or done had come from a selfless place.
I sincerely am grieved at this... and hope it gets resolved.
I considered Lee my friend. I'm still grieving his loss, and it really gets me to think someone might have done this to profit from his unfortunate situation.
As I've said... I hope it's a misunderstanding, but at the same time...
I know these people, and I don't doubt any of their word.
Cutting & running only makes you appear guilty.
So unfortunate to hear this... it's taken me a while before I could get past the stun to be able to say anything.
This whole situation shook our group here to the core... we lost a fellow brother on a ride!
That's all I'm gonna say for now... I'm getting angry, and no one will like me when I go there. I love my family here, and don't want to offend anyone.
Sincerely hope this gets resolved, and quickly... one way or another.'82 XJ1100J Maxim (has been sold.)

Well Albert I don't know you and have never met any of the mid west gang in person. But if this was a trial and I was the judge hearing testimony.I think I would be giving you a lecture now on loyalty, morals and greed.I don't know that you behaved badly or did anything wrong, but if you did I believe you'll feel better about it if you apologize and move on.Sorry if I'm wrong about this. But unless you're new to the forum you already know that I'm almost never wrong.LOL Merry Christmass

And this is the rest of the story.
I've been out of the loop for the past week, suffering under the Xmas crunch, personal stuff, etc.!
Devilschld pm'd me today to remove him from the Forum. Due to the volume of his posts...over 150, it would wreak havoc with the database if his username were deleted. His settings have been set to NOT receive any PM's or Emails from the site, so his username has been essentially left in an inactive status. He can still log in if he wants to...and you all know how to check for activity by viewing the user's profile. But this seems to be the end of it...thread closed!
