taking close up photos

hey guys I keep seeing blurry closeups of bike parts on the forum. most camera's have a macro function to fix this, the button usually has a flower/mountain icon. if you are taking a photo of something really close to the camera, put that button on the flower setting and the picture will be in focus.

Helps to use the timer to trip the "shutter" as well.

Another method is to step back and use the zoom to fill the frame.
Small digital cameras need a couple of seconds to focus too so don't rush the camera.

with my digital camera when i depress the shutter button half way a green box appears in the view finder or display and it then focuses on the object at hand...after the adjustment then fully depress the shutter button to take the clearly focused pic...easy on close ups it helps to hold the camera steady too.

I don't think my storm had a macro mode, and most of the time when I need to snap a shot that's what I have. It is auto focus and 3.2 Mp though, so they aren't too bad.

For me, I've found the best way to get a closeup with my 5mp camera is to set it at the highest resolution, and then once I take the picture, I use photo editing software (free photoscape) to zoom in and crop it. I've tried the closeup button on my camera and the zoom feature and both don't do as good of a job as the high resolution and photo editing procedure does.

Macro

Macro needs alot of off camera light. If you want a lot in focus you need a lot of light.
Some macro cameras with the zoom go into a yellow zone and this may not fucus depending on the model and features. So just zoom out until the yellow is gone.
I have a camera S5 IS (old) Canon that has a super macro and the only way to zoom it is to move the camera in and out from the subject. Then depending on the amount and angle of light it will set the cam for how much will be in focus.
Also keeping the camera as square to the subject helps and a slightly higher camera angle to "lay" down the field of focus. Old cameras can do this in a different way.

Good guess, but not correct. Steppenwolf had a valve cover bolt or two that snapped off trying to remove his valve cover, of course. Those "grindings" are the resulting pieces of those bolts after they were "forcably" evicted.
