    checking in

    Hi,

I'm tsears (Tim). I think I'm a prettty long time lurker and extremely occaisional poster. If it wasn't for this list, I'd have long ago bought a much newer bike (is that a good thing?). I have 3 xs11s, a '79, an '80, and an '81 - all specials. I bought two of them from list members. I still don't get out much with the bikes. I like the forum much better than the email list. It seems more directed to what I am interested in.

    Tim

PS This forum needs to do what is necessary to retain TKAT as an integral member. I bought one of my bikes from him, and use his fork braces. He is one of lifes TRUE assets.

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there

sixtysix suggested I come here and intro myself. OK. I'm Roland from Harrisonburg, Virginia. Used to ride an '81 Yamaha 400 Special. August of '99 I'm walking thru a local dealership and they have an '81 Eleven Special. Looks just like my bike, black with blue metal flake. 'Cept it has two more cylindars, shaft drive and not a scratch. I'm in love! The rest is history. Imagine my suprise that there is a website dedicated to owners of these machines. Guess you really can find anything on the WWW.:)

Hello to all. Ron Crawford (aka: crawdad) here. I've been around since the beginning of the year. I really like this new forum. Couldn't stand Yahoo because of the way they handed out your personal info to all of the bloodsuckers. I've still got my two '81 XSes (H and SH). I'm sure I'll be burning up the forum with more questions in my quest to get these two brutes running. Any suggestions for names for em?

                  I'm here

I signed in elsewhere, so now I'll sign in here, too. I'm new to the list, newer to the forum. I'll read anything. I usually try to access from work 'cause we've got DSL; but it's the weekend and so here I am. "It's quarter to three and there's no one in the place except maybe just me," to paraphrase a song. I rode today for the first time in weeks due to a sprained ankle. "Look ma, no cane!"

                  Wave when you see me.

I'm here. Spend most of my time looking, don't post too often.

                    Bruce (desert1),
What's Opera? I'm looking for a good browser. I've switched back and forth between Internet Explorer and Netscape several times. I just started using Netscape today because IE has been constantly performing and illegal act and shutting down. Reloaded it twice but that didn't fix it so I switched (again). Would like to try Opera, where do I get it?

I was having an AWFUL time using Netscape 4.5 on the form. On the suggestion of Chris Rawson, I tried Opera. It's a new browser the "tries harder". Lots of great little features, simple and straight forward to use.

Like Netscape and IE, it can be downloaded for free from your favorite shareware site or from the Opera Homepage. The free version of Opera has a small, unobtrusive advertizing panel in the top right corner.

I've been using Opera for about a month and really like it. If you're looking for a change, give it a try!

You can actually try to fix this by deleted all of your cookies, histroy and temp. internet files. You will have to re-enter personal information when you come to old websites again though.

Thanks for the info on Opera and the advise. I deleted all the cookies, history, etc. when I did one of the reloads. I think AT&T (my internet provider) screwed it up with their last update. That is one thing I don’t like about their service, they like to mess around with IE on your computer. Maybe that is only because I started out with the cheap service (5.95 per month) that had an advertising window open when every you were logged on. They have changed the service twice since then (and the cost) and each time they make more changed to IE. Think I'll give Opera a try.

                            Checkin' in from Down Under!

G'day ! CD from Australia - usually a complete lurker and occasional digest reader (lucky I picked up the comments about the changes!!) - still riding though (Wogs in the Bush Rally a couple of weeks ago, saw Shane Thomas there). I have two 1980 XS1100's, one an ex-Police model awaiting work and the other a fairly ratty-looking but reliable Standard model. Look forward to doing a bit of browsing through the new site and when time permits, a bit of chatting with fellow XSives.

                            Regards, CD.

I've just been with the forum a few days; just ran onto your comment about "Tkat" . I've had the forkbrace on my 81SH, now
for about 4 weeks. Had been ridin' the beast since '94, without the forkbrace. I gotta new motorcycle , now.

Had done several emails with Tkat over a period of about 3 months, before I did, go ahead and get the F/B. The guy is a
super-duper person to deal with. (?)...and you say you got an

I would sure like to be reading ANY postings that he would be
