Question for Internet Guru's??

Running firefox on vista through cox, and not having any troubles at all. The other day I had some slowdown, but everything was OK in a few hours.

i have probs just about every day typically between 1030 and 1300 hrs. that is on east coast time. use company network which eventually ends up via verizon [i think].

I have not been able to access the site from home for several days. I have no problem at work. Am running Win server 2003 with IE6 / Win Xp Pro with IE8. Problem started with exceptionally slow access then the same as TC noted. No other site is affected.

I have had intermittent access issues for the last week or so, both from home and work and from my smartphone as well. In addition, I have used the blackberry browser and opera mini on the phone and have used IE8, Firefox 3.5 and Google Chrome on the computers with the results being the same on ALL of them. If I didn't know better I would think that the site (or their ISP) is under a DOS attack.

I had one evening, last week, where it woudn't come up for a couple hours, I thought it was down for maintenance.

Other than that no problems from here.

Router issues

Well, I finally got here by taking my Linksys router out if the equation. It is a WRK54G. I can access every other site in the world (all that I have tried anyway) but not XS11.com and yes I tried using IP address. With the router hooked up, I can nto get here from my hardwire connected desktop or my laptop.

Hook my cable modem direct to my desktop and here I be. No one can tell me what is up with the bloody router yet. Linksys starts working with me then they tell me I am out of warranty so they can't help me anymore.

I tried resetting to factory defaults and still no go. May just pony up for a new and improved router I guess. But it makes no sense that the only issue is not getting to this particular site!

I haven't had any problems accessing CH11 with my Verizon fiber optic connection and Firefox browser. It's likely a temporary local internet problem.

Solution for the problems

I was unable to connect for a few days, and just thought the site was down. Was messaging another user and they said it was up and running, so I went through the normal tracert and ping tests, found that I was not reaching the site. So, what I did was realize it was the DNS servers not getting update that I was using through Time Warner Cable.

Solution: http://www.opendns.com/

They have directions on there to fix your DNS for what ever you are using. I just switched it on my router so that every computer in the house would handle it. Give it a try if it is sluggish or intermittently being down.

I've never been a fan of Linksys. They have some really flaky times.

The last 2 I've had, over the last decade are Netgear. haen't had any issues with them.

If any of your friends are about to buy a Dell they can probably get you a pretty good deal on a new router as part of thier package!

Back on track

I believe it (the issue) is due to the site's ISP blocking traffic. I recall we has a rash of spammers a short while ago. This blocking would appear to be the result of our ISP's attempt at stopping the spammers. I still have not been able to connect from home.
