Well, the doc told me yesterday I can do anything I want that doesn't cause discomfort. So I am riding again. Finally!

If you're anything like me, even if riding does cause some discomfort, you wouldn't tell SWMBO or the doc. Glad to hear you back on your own 2 tires.

Not really. I never lost the addiction to leaning in the corners. Then when Tod and Kat stopped by and I heard the pair of XS's roaring off into the distance, that pretty well sealed my fate. Lee kept coming bay and checking on me, on his scoot too. I think he was just trying to make me heal faster.

Worst part now is my back. Its still a little out of whack and hurts a bit when I hit some bumps like rail road tracks and such. My spine doctor appointment is on the 10th, and I hope he gives me the OK to see a chiropractor.

I wish I could go to Eureka Springs this weekend, but I don't think SWMBO would let me head out cross country solo. Its cool though, Talimena is just round the corner. Hopefully there will be a Colorado trip next year as well.

TBH, there were more than a few times I would have just gave up and died. On the scene, I think the only reason I did live was that I was too pissed off to die. After 6+ hours with no pain meds, I would have rather died than take any more pain. They wouldn't let me have pain meds until my blood pressure got back down to normal, at its highest, it was 250/150 or something like that. They were worried I was going to start blowing out arteries or have a stroke. I guess the pain meds could have complicated that. Man that sucked. Then they wouldn't let me lay on anything but a back board. Not even a cushion. The 40 mile trip from Hutchinson to Wichita in the ambulance with rock solid suspension and some 6500 sets of railroad tracks to go over was almost too much. I have hurt enough to tear up before, but this time I hurt so bad I flat out bawled.

My advice is to avoid getting your pelvis broke if at all possible.

Glad to hear your back in the saddle, so to speak! I hope they installed some LOUD horns on the bike for you!! I ALWAYS give a blast if someone is "stupid" in a car. They get a little mad, but they DO know I'm on the road.

I just have the stock 105dB horns. They don't help when someone sneaks up behind you at 60 mph though.

Its funny how a short beep of the horn, just to announce your presence, pisses people off so badly.

Now, just do not let the local po-po know about that missile the guys installed under your tail pipes for the next phone punk that ends up behind you!!

You are a better man than I. I have tried on numerous occasions to teach my oldest to drive and she just doesn't want to learn. She has the attitude that she knows it all already and that I should just shut up and let her do what she wants. The problem with that is that I value human life too much. We had to tell her that we won't let her take the drivers test, since killing the examiner would be a bad thing for her. I am now the "Biggest jerk ever!"

Well Ivan, so far, she has been listening pretty well. Only real issue is she thinks the speed limit posted is a suggestion only. I have NO idea where she gets that from. Otherwise, she takes it very seriously and I actually find I am much more relaxed about it than I thought I would be. I am making her learn on my F150 crew cab and she is still a bit shy of the other cars, as in tends to stay away from the yellow line. Which is not to big of a deal till your on back country roads and the right side of the vehicles is about to fall off the edge with a five foot ditch. Then I speak up and tell her to "GET THE H$!! OVER!! Those cars will not hurt you as bad as I will if you drop my truck off the road!!".

As to your situation, I commend you for taking the action. Respect and responsibility start at home and it sounds like your doing what you can to teach it. Hopefully she comes around before to long.

I don't mind being the jerk myself! My son STILL does not drive, at 23! My daughter does, as her mom pushed her to it. She learned in a Prius, so I had to teach her how to drive a REAL automobile. Then the ex said "we" needed to get her a car. She now has an older escort wagon with a 5 speed! It took me about a week to teach her the PROPER way to drive, and then I've been helping as needed (parallel parking, etc.).
My saving grace was they know dad drove big rigs for over ten years, and has over a million miles on the road. When it comes to driving, I DO know a lot!
I don't know what the handbook in your state looks like, but here you can pick one up and have the kids read through it. You then test them yourself, and if they just brush you off, no driving
