Hi everyone,
I just picked up my second XS this past Saturday. Its a 1979 XS 1100 Special, has 25K miles and all original except the front head light and front signals. The owner said he cleaned them carbs and they are surprisingly clean enough for it to start/idle well and rev, but he didn’t put the air box back together… Besides some obvious maintenance like cleaning the break system, putting all new fluids in, tires(?), and fuel filters on, the only thing it “needs” is a battery, air filter and some attention to electrical connections. I bought it without a title, but the NYS Title Bureau says they don’t have anything in their system as the title has been inactive for longer than 10 years (inspection says '94). I was told all I need is a bill of sale and a notarized letter from an officer stating he check the vin and it came back clean/not on system, and they will issue me a title. Here is a pic and a walk around while its running.
