Hey there Elevener,
Glad to see you finally got on the forum! And that is a fine looking specimen of a Standard.
You'll want to check your plugs to see how it's burning? IF they are bone white, then you may need to do some tuning to get it to have a little color on the plugs. You don't want to burn any holes in those big bore pistons.
And....so you also need to monitor how the big responds under different throttle loads. If you notice any pinging/knocking at cruising speed, or when you try to do a slow roll on of the throttle, then you may need to go up on the octane. Our machines have electronic type ignitions, but do not have as fancy of a computer to actually ADJUST the timing under varying loads and octane levels, and so pinging and knocking "CAN" occur.
I run Premium in my little big bore machine with 4-1 pipes, Indy filters because I didn't want to take any chances with Pre-ignition ping/knock causing problems with my NEW PISTONS! A few cents a gallon for me was cheap insurance. I'm sure I could try to run regular and see how it behaves, I have a lawnmower, and generator that could use it IF I experience any pinging/knocking, but I just didn't want to bother! YMMV!
