dry gas is an addituive we use in the northeast, because of condensation
it absorbs water and lets it go thru the motor without damage

up here if we let water build up in our tanks it will freeze in the gas line and the car will not start, and the only way to fix it is to bring it into a heated area until it thaws

so to combat ethonal intruducing mosture into gas i use the dry gas to take it away
Gas Dry is pretty much..........alcohol, like methanol and ethanol.
The idea is it mixes with the condensed water and lowers the freezing point to keep it liquid.

In the marine community ethanol has wreaked havoc. It has caused built in fiberglass tanks to delaminate and leak fuel into the bilges, caused the delamination of the interior of fuel lines, destroyed rubber fuel pump diaphragms and fuel system failures. Many a marine mechanic will attest to this.
Several fellow boaters in my neighborhood have gone through this.
It was conventional practice to put your boat away with full fuel tanks to avoid exessive water in them due to condensation. Now they're saying to store them with emty fuel tanks because the alcohol will extract more moisture from the air than condensation.
Personally, I have yet to experience any of this on my boats. Go figure.

In some older carbs the plastic floats would separate. Some fuel lines would start to disolve from the inside out and fuel deposits that had been building up for years would break down with ethanol.

All these problems were sorted out years ago. On the plus side ethanol boosts octane on the down side it lowers economy.

The airplane guys to all sorts of odd things that aren't very compatible with ethanol so I wouldn't base anything for bike on their aircraft opinions.

Now I don't agree with federally mandating the use of ethanol and I think it's a pork barrel deal for the ethanol producers but it's not all bad. Personally I think we should get TEL back but that'll never happen.

          Metho

Cheapest fix I know of for water in fuel is to use a bit of methylated spirits (98% alcohol) we use it here in truck tanks. changes the molecular structure of the water so it will go thru filters rather than clogging. cheap too.
