  • Greetings guys and gals!

Thought I would introduce myself. Name is Doug, live in SE Wisconsin (USA), and have owned my XS for 25 years ( has it been that long!). Bought it used with 1800 miles on it for a dollar per mile. She came fully dressed with hard saddles, trunk, Windjammer SS fairing, road pegs, etc. What a ride - fast AND sharp! Unfortunately, there came a time when I couldn't afford the repairs (new pipes, tires) and so I parked it one day - and it has sat for the last 15 or so years

Well, I think the time has come to breathe life into the 'ole girl! She's only got 43K on the OD, and I miss my "baby" and want to get out on the road again!

So, there you go - hope your folks treat a foolish and shortsighted guy with kindness.....

        Hi Doug,
welcome to the list and welcome back to XS11 operation.
There's a comprehensive XS11 resurrection procedure buried in the search function. Whaddya mean, "foolish and short sighted"? Kept it didn'tcha? That's intelligent forethought, that is. And you do have an advantage over most members trying to bring a 15 years parked bike back to life. They tend to whine on about the effin' PO did this or didn't do that and if only they could get at him to beat him about the head or kick his arse. But you are your own PO. Be gentle with yourself, eh?

                    Greetings,
I think there are a pile of folks here that have cramps in their legs from kicking themselves in the seat for selling their first XS...
I have the bruised forehead from a hard wall for not buying one the first time around when I had the chance...

This is the place for the cure. Just ask. The doctors are in....

Welcome again. Good looking ride. Good lookin rider.

Nice! Even has the big, colored front fender! Can't wait to see the updated picture. As was said, ask any and all questions you have about your bike. Lots of info here, and plenty of folks jumping at the chance to help other XSives get their bikes running. If you don't have a manual yet, you can get one from the link in my signature.

                        Dude,
You own one of the best all around standard freakin' bikes ever made! You belong to the august company of elete XS11 bikers. Harley riders should kiss your ass! If you can't get help here to get your XS back on the road, then you should give up and buy a used Sears 250 "Twingal."

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                        I've been riding since 1959.
