What did BU$H do for us? Name one thing? Hillary / Clinton got the FMLA act passed and that was one of the greatest things ever for the American Worker.

BU$H made bankruptcy illegal unless you filed on 1 million dollars or more. Once again taking care of his rich buddies. So as far as Obama is concerned, I can see why so many feel he is their Savior. Now if he just had the balls to prosecute the ones including Larry Silverstein over 9/11 and the billions that were made in put options and insurance claims.

My family is from Russia. So I can see things a little differently from time to time. My great Aunt was a freedom fighters but these days they call them terrorists....LOL

On a better note, I did spend most the day on my 1978 XS1100E and it rode great. But then again all I have to compare it to is a 2002 Harley Firefighter Ultra...LOL

Well Bob I am sorry that you cannot ride so forgive me if you felt singled out..but these others here need to get a life...why is it during riding season we have more of this blather than in the off season when this site goes into hibernation...you know if you're gonna be drinking you shouldn't drive so whats left? As for Winter who?

We had the same problems with political discussions a few years back. it got pretty heated at times and caused a few members to outright quit because of some of the incendiary statements made. However, because many of our members have known each other for years, sometimes motorcycle talk just gets redundant and sometimes current events makes friends want to discuss something different. Sooo, here's what we did to resolve the issue...

We created a topic area where folks who wanted to participate in it had to request access in writing (E-Mail to the assigned Forum moderator). In doing so they were informed that discussions may be raw and inflammatory and they were going in at their own risk and we moderators didn't want to hear the complaints. Those who didn't wish to see such carnage simply didn't sign up for access to it. The only rules we had were no personal attacks of a malicious nature against other members nor pornographic material posted (The Venturers IS a family site, after all...).

As a result, the rest of the forum has been very friendly and civil and no one has quit because of silly disagreements. All non-motorcycle frustration is handled there and stays out of the rest of the place.

it has worked quite well! I don't know if this forum can be tailored like that as it's a different engine than ours, but it worked for us!
Excellent suggestion, Bob... and welcome back! From one Bob E. to another Bob E. - sounds like you & I think alike!
2 weeks ago I RE-SUGGESTED this very thing here... told no. It had been suggested originally by another member... who's no longer with us now due to a similar problem that you speak about.
I felt it could take a great site... and bring it one step closer to perfection.
Again, welcome back, Bob. But if you're indeed like me, you'll have to learn to either ignore some of the dribble that's posted from time to time, or keep silent and go on. I find it's hard not to read it... I just choose to go on.
But your suggestion echoes again the very thing some here have already offered.
As for me... I can already see, I'm glad to have you back.

A few other comments...I frequent a number of other m/c forums...and everyone has their way of dealing with those topics that just dont seem to fit into the genre of motorcycledom. Keep in mind that the way CH11 and others are set up..the website owner has the final say as to what he/she wants incorporated into their domain. So making a suggestion and being turned down by a moderator isnt necessarily the decision of that Mod...but he/she has to carry out the will of the site owner.
Now if you have ever gone to a forum like ADVRider you know what a diverse site it is. They have a very high tolerance for things that would be less tolerant on other sites. ADVRider has a forum called Jo Momma..this is where all the threads that started good but end up bad ...wind up...language is free flowing and it isnt a pretty place nor for the weak.. There are other forums that I know that run an extremely tight ship and do not under any circumstances allow politics, religion or guns or anything not related to m/c s'...
So Bob... while your suggestion is a good one it just comes down to what the site owners will permit. And since idle talk is off topic this is where they have deemed it proper for the variety of topics to be discussed...
Now as far as certain individual topics that have come up here repeatedly... by the same individual..you either take it or leave it. We can ignore what we want and even put a person on the ignore list...but other than that not much else can be done.
Overall I'd say 99% of the people and topics here at CH11 are superb...but in any group you will still have those that leave much to be desired....so just remember its all a Gov't plot

I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers
                    Consultin' with the rain.
And my head I'd be scratchin' while
                    my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
                    In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts you'll be thinkin'
                    you could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain.
Oh, I could tell you why The ocean's near the shore.
I could think of things I never thunk before.
And then I'd sit, and think some more.
I would not be just a nothin' my head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain.
I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
If I only had a brain.

Funny how things get started... and end up somewhere else...

IIRC, this thread was started out by a member who was having a bad day, had imbibed a little too much, and went for a typing run... then later apologized.

I say we leave it there...

                      THE END.

                      Have a nice Day!

Anybody wanna talk motorcycles for a change??

I fear there are a few on Ch.11 who have not a sense of humor and who find no joy in idiosynchronicities........sad, sad, sad....

"As our idiotic ancestors happened to justify the bizarre nature of different people's actions by blaming their variously categorized shortcomings on which ever astral bodies happened to be above the crib at the time of their birth; our modern world recognizes the phenomena of stupidity, but fails to recognize the intricate tapestry stupidity often weaves."
