    Hey Deny,
You may have elected him but I did not! I knew better and you will soon. He has his own agenda and it does not include seeing after your welfare. We are so attuned (read PC) to giving everyone the right to vote we even allow incarcerated mental (read padded walls) people the right to eliminate intellegent votes. Our political arena is so corrupt that I am hard put to name a GOOD president without going back a century or so. Blow out Congress and lets start again!! Thank you and I will keep my rights including the right to speak regardless of the consequences. Put you fingers in your ears; it works for Obama.

I strongly support freedom of speech!!! If it is desired by our members to maintain this, can we PLEASE have a separate area for this to take place? I truly am offended by these attacks!

Correct, this IS the other area you speak of meant for discussions not necessarily related to motorcycles.

You don't have to read every thread or post on here. I don't like politics and I only reads these threads to see how long it takes to spiral down to name-calling. This one got there fairly quickly.
Reading threads on politics is like rubber-necking a car accident.

Now listen here ya dang... Oops.. Never mind, Pat. I thought you said Rednecks..

I worked several years on an ambulance. I would see some pretty gruesome wrecks... and the people stopping traffic so they could "Have a look".. then the looks of horror on their faces when they DID actually see what they were looking for... pretty hilarious. Of course, then we'd get the calls from these same people that we didn't cover up the bodies sufficiently.. blah blah.

If you think about all of this.. I think the same thing kind of applies here.

                Apologies to everyone!

I usually do not allow myself to go there under any circumstances. My apologies to all offended or annoyed. I was already pissed off when I came on line with more then a few too many beers. Next time I will just beat my head against a tree or something. So does anyone know how to shave 29.5mm valve shims down to the 29 our bikes use???

I have also been guilty of crossing the line before. Nice to see that you are man enough to apologize. And if I offended anyone, I apologize as well. That was not my intention.

I'm the one who said "left wing commie liberal" and...."right wing redneck" to be fair handed.

Maybe I'm wrong and this stuff doesn't need to go to a different forum...it does get old having to sort thru political bashing to open up something of a more friendly nature...and it would be handy to have this stuff in a seperate forum.

That way when I feel like kicking my dog or punching myself in the eye, I'll know exactly where to go for some real sadomasochism, and I won't have to hunt for it.

Just A Suggestion To This Issue...

Just a suggestion...i know I haven't been here in a while but please allow me to share some experience from my club's forum, The Venturers...

We had the same problems with political discussions a few years back. it got pretty heated at times and caused a few members to outright quit because of some of the incendiary statements made. However, because many of our members have known each other for years, sometimes motorcycle talk just gets redundant and sometimes current events makes friends want to discuss something different. Sooo, here's what we did to resolve the issue...

We created a topic area where folks who wanted to participate in it had to request access in writing (E-Mail to the assigned Forum moderator). In doing so they were informed that discussions may be raw and inflammatory and they were going in at their own risk and we moderators didn't want to hear the complaints. Those who didn't wish to see such carnage simply didn't sign up for access to it. The only rules we had were no personal attacks of a malicious nature against other members nor pornographic material posted (The Venturers IS a family site, after all...).

As a result, the rest of the forum has been very friendly and civil and no one has quit because of silly disagreements. All non-motorcycle frustration is handled there and stays out of the rest of the place.

it has worked quite well! I don't know if this forum can be tailored like that as it's a different engine than ours, but it worked for us!
