  • I'm leaving for missouri saturday morning. I'll grab the signals I have and I'll also grab all of my leftover scattered xs parts. It'll be nice having them within two minutes walk instead of five hours drive.

        • Well, I am back home now. I just made it from the rehab center last night.

I read through this whole thread, and I am astounded by the response that has come through.

When I found out about the collection I litterally cried. I have never been a part of a group of people that would do such a thing. Most other hobbies I have had, the others would have been calling my wife saying "Can I have his stuff if he dies?" This is truly amazing. Words fail me on expressing how thankful I am.

I haven't even seem my scoot yet. The guys from work that built my wheel chair ramp pulled it in my garage for me, and I haven't the stomach to look yet.Partially because of the ensuing flashbacks, but mostly because i really loved that bike, and it would hurt to see it all banged up.

The kid that was driving (it is infact the kid standing there with his arms crossed) was in his sister's car, and that insurance, which was his mothers, is unlimited. If I understand correctly, Kansas law limits liability to $250,000. My attourney said he may not get all of it, but he will try. I replied that he gets paid a percentage, so take all he wants.

I am reasonably sure the kid was texting and that is why he wasn't paying attention. I saw him with a cell phone when I passed him, and again when he got out of the car. The police said they could not find a cell phone, so I imagine he passed it off to someone else.

The very interesting fact in all this is that this kids mother called me up about a year ago and threatened to press charges on my 8 year old son because her son can't handle Sean picking on him. After arguing with her for several hours on the phone, I finally said "Look lady, if calling the cops on an 8 year old makes you feel big in your britches, just go ahead." She never called back. Although I doubt this to be the cause of the accident, it is hard to not think that way and harder yet not to get angry about it.

All in all, I am managing. The pain is still moderate to severe at times, and I can't sleep with out a fairly stiff dose of percoset and some trazidone. I am saddened because it looks like I will miss out on riding for the rest of the year. Talking to the doctor, he suspects that ontop of the three months for the bones to heal, it will tak another three months to regain full weight bearing status and learn to walk again. I did ask about the gum chewing training, Tod, and they said that costs extra, so I will probably not buy that.

Right now, I am restrained to using the PlayStation as my internet connectivity, so I may not be on here as much, since there are 7 other people here that love watching TV.

Once again, thanks to all who have helped.

          Ivan

          • Good you are at least back home.
Sounds like that butthead kid had motive to be aggressing you with his car.

The whole parts thing is just a ruse to get rid of those cherry bombs and that whitewall.

Ivan, your case is one of the several I've witnessed on this site. The support here never ceases to amaze and impress me.

We're all hoping you (and your bike) get well and back on the road soon.

              • Hi, Ivan...

I'm sooo glad to see you back, and to know you're home!
Just remember... your family here at Ch. 11 loves ya, even us guys who haven't had the pleasure of meeting you in person yet. Site's not the same w/o you. Glad to have ya back. And there will be plenty willing to put the bike pieces back together again for ya... don't worry too much about that.
Sad to hear it will be that long of a road for ya, and how much ridin' you'll miss... but very glad you're gonna get the chance to make up for the lost time.
Prayin' for ya daily, Ivan. Hang in there.

                • Ivan,

It's great to see that you're home. Looks like the folks who live close by will have your scoot back into riding shape soon enough. Hope your rehab goes just as well. This will make next year's rides even sweeter. Good luck and don't hesitate to let your ch 11 brothers know when you need something.
